Utilizing Open-Source And Budget-Friendly Tools To Improve Issue Reporting Workflows For E-Resources, Christina A. Beis
Roesch Library Faculty Presentations
E-resources are constantly in flux, and librarians spend a significant amount of time fixing access issues. Effective communication and issue tracking are important components that increase transparency, reduce redundancy, and provide a knowledge base. Blogging the Library
As of today, I’ve officially been alone on the Research Help Desk for two weeks! At first it was a little intimidating, but by using the research and citations guides I’ve been able to handle every questions I’ve gotten so far. During my desk shifts, I’ve also been studying readings about ebooks, collection, and weeding, as well as getting better acquainted with the databases. I decided to study databases that were in disciplines that I hadn’t encountered in my academic career, so I spent a lot of time in resources like Bio1 and LexisNexis. My favorite database that I’ve found …

Libraries
JMU's Carrier Library may be one of the most popular study and hangout spots on campus, but how accessible is it? How can we work to improve Carrier's accessibility? We developed and tested an accessibility audit instrument to identify areas of strength and need. This session will present findings and talk about how the libraries are working to redefine access and accessibility in the physical environment. Your voice is welcome to help co-construct an idea of library as third place that is accessible and inclusive for all students, faculty, and staff.
