In 2017, Library Services at Minnesota State University, Mankato, in collaboration with our College of Graduate Studies and Research, launched the first annual Graduate Online Symposium. This event was designed to showcase the research, scholarly and creative activities of our graduate students. Rather than presenting at an on-campus forum, we gave our graduate students (both on-campus and off-campus) an opportunity to be able to share their research in an open, online environment. The Graduate Online Symposium allowed our graduate students the chance to record brief 15-minute presentations about their research and creative activities. The Anchor: 2018

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Nora Evelyn Cordingley worked for the Roosevelt Memorial Association at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace. She helped Hermann Hagedorn build the extensive collection of materials related to President Theodore Roosevelt starting in the early 1920s until the collection moved to Harvard University in the early 1940s. She also helped in the project to publish Theodore Roosevelt's letters. Ms. Cordingley died in her office within the Widener Library in 1951.

This study evaluates user experiences in the Bethlehem University Library across four categories: Services, Resources, Library Usage, and the Building itself, based on an anonymous survey issued in October 2017. The Library was refurnished in 2016 with the express purpose of creating a facility with the most current practices and equipment, at a level comparable to other modern academic universities, to enhance the learning experience at Bethlehem University. A concern of all academic Interlibrary Loan Departments is having faculty/ staff & students request materials already owned by their home library. The Interlibrary Loan Department conducted a qualitative research study with IRB approval to explore this concern. In this session, the presenters will describe how data suggest a more streamlined approach to redirecting searches originating in the library for outside sources to assets already physically (or electronically) stored in the library. This study examined the influence of career choice on professional and job commitment, factors influencing career choice, the perceptions on professionalization and the extent to which career choice has influenced the growth, job and professional commitment of librarians in selected libraries in Oyo and Ogun states of Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted with questionnaire as the research instrument. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was 0.83. The statistical methods used to analyze the data obtained were descriptive statistics of frequency distribution counts, percentages and tables for the demographic variables and standard deviation for research questions. The paper presents citation analysis of PhD theses awarded during the period 1986-2015 in five sub- subjects of Political Science under the University of Burdwan. The study is based on the 7711 citations collected from 56 PhD theses of five specific subjects’ viz. Administration, Indian Politics, Political Sociology, International Relation and Political Thought under Political Science. This study presents citation analysis of fifty-two doctoral theses in education accepted by the school of postgraduate studies, university of Maiduguri, between 1987 and 2015. The title pages, abstracts and references of each thesis were photocopied and examined thoroughly in terms of name of the researcher, title of thesis, year of award, subject area covered, number of citations, types of works cited and the total of each cited work. In the summer of 2017, Gettysburg and Bucknell's student cohorts met to learn how to create elevator speeches for their research topics; R.C. Miessler (Gettysburg), and Carrie Pirmann and Courtney Paddick (Bucknell), talk about the structure and goals of their summer programs, with a focus on their combined session and the importance of helping students learn how to talk about their research.

Librarians met with colleagues in the Office of Multicultural Engagement (OME) to discuss new opportunities to support student initiatives. Lattes with a Librarian was proposed as a way to provide reference services for students outside of the library. This presentation draws from findings based on a three-year research project with the goal of achieving greater digital equity for adult learners in libraries. This project addresses digital problem solving, a unique task adults face in today’s age of ubiquitous technology use. Marginalized and under-resourced digital users face challenges of access not only to high-speed Internet but also to getting the support they need for their digital learning and problem solving. Advancing Digital Equity In Public Libraries: Assessing Library Patrons’ Problem Solving In Technology Rich Environments, Gloria Jacobs

This mixed methods research examined the digital problem solving processes of vulnerable adults within the community setting of a public library. Data were collected from approximately 450 library users who completed a library survey, a subset who completed PIAACs Problem Solving in Technology Rich Environments (PSTRE) assessment, and a smaller subset who participated in an observation protocol. Quantitative analysis revealed that library website use was a strong predictor of PSTRE scores. Musselman Library's Special Collections and College Archives at Gettysburg College has worked with over 70 student curators on art gallery exhibitions and public history exhibits. These curatorial experiences provide hands-on interactions with artifacts and artworks and high-impact collaborations among students, interns, archivists, librarians, historians, digital projects specialists, gallery directors, conservators, and preparators. The final result is often breathtaking and always informative.
