This digital exhibit features a mere fraction of the various historical women’s organizations established throughout the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Other notable organizations include the Valley Byliners, Junior League, Friendship of Women, Mujeres Unidas, Organization of Women Executives, and many, many more.

Open Access (OA) is not a monolith. A variety of licenses, format considerations, publishing platforms, and business models make the OA landscape particularly complex. Nonetheless, because of the immense benefits public access to research and creative works provides, we think OA is a challenge worth pursuing. This presentation offers an overview of OA publishing landscapes and provides case studies of flipping a subscription journal to OA, supporting institutional authors in publishing monographs OA, working with faculty to adopt Open Educational Resources (OER) as course materials, and leveraging an institutional repository to support green OA. PURPOSE: The advent of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT has introduced notable advancements in various surgical disciplines. These developments have led to an increased interest in the use of LLMs for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding in surgery. With CPT coding being a complex and time-consuming process, often exacerbated by the scarcity of professional coders, there is a pressing need for innovative solutions to enhance coding efficiency and accuracy.

METHODS: This observational study evaluated the effectiveness of five publicly available large language models-Perplexity.AI, Bard, BingAI, ChatGPT 3.5, and ChatGPT 4.0-in accurately identifying CPT codes for hand surgery procedures. A …

This column explores the parallels between contingent (i.e., non-tenure-track) faculty positions in academic departments and contingent librarian positions in academic libraries, examining how issues of job security, professional identity, and institutional dynamics impact professionals across these roles. Drawing on personal experience and existing literature, the author discusses the implications of her contingent status for job satisfaction, institutional commitment, and career development. The column concludes with recommendations for increasing awareness and advocacy about contingent librarianship within the field of Library and Information Science, emphasizing the importance of addressing labor issues and their intersection with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

This chapter reports findings and offers themes from focus groups with student success librarians. The research group addressed a gap in the literature by investigating how student success librarians contribute to campus-wide student success efforts, how these efforts have changed over time, partnerships and collaboration with campus units, and assessment of these efforts. This chapter presents critical takeaways for current and prospective student success librarians, library leaders, student affairs personnel, and broader audiences in academic librarianship. Are Emojis The New Words? A Sentiment Analysis Of Social Media Brand Conversations, Yashodhan Karulkar, Dev T. Vora, Siddharth Vaddepalli, Yash Thakur

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Emojis have become an increasingly important aspect of consumer-brand interactions in the Indian subcontinent. However, the impact of emoji use on brand image and mental health remains underexplored, particularly in emerging economies like India, where structured research on this topic is limited. To address this gap, the present study analyzes over 4,600 consumer tweets related to 19 prominent brands across eleven industries. Using VADER sentiment analysis, the research develops a metric to assess consumer sentiment and brand engagement in relation to emoji usage. The findings indicate that effective integration of emojis contributes to positive consumer sentiment and enhanced brand engagement. …

The Anchor: March 2025, Issue Three, Hope College

The Anchor: 2025

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

This dataset was created as part of a larger study to recover the Belen colonial Catholic mission Church and the Plaza Vieja emergence history. By using extractions in Oswald Gilbert Baca’s Burial Records from the Roman Catholic Parish of Nuestra Señora de Belen, Belen, New Mexico, 1793 – 1900 as an initial source and comparing with the original register pages (available online at familysearch.org), I have begun to verify, clarify, correct and expand Baca’s extractions.

The interprofessional education (IPE) literature showcases many studies reporting results at the all-student and academic program levels. However, if the purpose of IPE is to develop collaborative-practice ready professionals, analysis at the team level would better support the advancement of the IPE literature and future health care goals. Pre-licensure students engaged in a two-year IPE curriculum and individually completed the Student Perceptions of Interprofessional Clinical Education-Revised survey, version 2 (SPICE-R2), at the end of the first and second year.
