This study investigated operational challenges of providing library services to long distance learners at higher education institutions in Uganda. The study adopted a survey research design, and the population was drawn from distance learners and librarians at Uganda Martyrs University (UMU). Quantitative and qualitative approaches were employed, online Google Form questionnaires were sent to 50 distance learners and 5 library staff. A total of 33 and 4 filled questionnaires were received back from students and library staff respectively and registering a response rate of 74%. The paper presents a comparative study of top-ranked Asiatic region journals of the Library and Information Science discipline. SCImago Journal and the country rank was used to determine the top-ranked Asiatic journals in the domain of library and information science. Initially, the top 10 journals were considered which filtered based on the coverage and SJR Ranked. A total of 6 Journals were considered for further evaluation and comparison, which meets different parameters and criteria. A comprehensive scientometric study was also presented of these six journals. Further, the paper presents the publication patterns of these six top-ranked journals.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the information and communication technology (ICT) skills as determinants of utilization of Institutional Repositories (IRs) by lecturers in Covenant University (CU) and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Nigeria. The research method employed stratified random sampling and the sample size was 94 lecturers from the Covenant University and 285 lecturers from University of Ilorin. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The results from the paper revealed that there is higher utilization of institutional repository provisions among lecturers in CU and this is because many of them possess ICT skills. However, …

This article examine the male and female Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals working in universities in Tamil Nadu. The study reveals that out of 441 respondents surveyed under the study, 73.7% (325) are male respondents and 26.3% (116) are female respondents. This study reveals that the male LIS professionals are very good and good at many skills while female LIS professionals are OK at many skills. Information technology steered the proliferation of information resources in different formats, thus, making available a lot of information choices for the diverse needs of all types of users. To be able to obtain quality resources, the academic libraries play a crucial role in developing the information competencies of college students. This study examined the information literacy of college freshmen using a cognitive test. Scores were analyzed using mean scores, frequency, and percentage. Findings indicate that college freshmen have above average literacy in accessing information, and average in evaluating and using information. The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

The Menninger collection comprises medical realia, publications, and ephemera from the Menninger Clinic and its former owners. The collection illustrates the evolution of the science of psychiatry and psychiatric treatment as seen through the eyes of America's first family of psychiatry, the Menningers, who opened its eponymous clinic in Topeka, Kansas, in 1925. Objects in the collection date as far back as 1854 through 2003, the year the clinic and its archive moved to Houston. See more at IC 078.

This article is a case study comparing three large-scale digitization projects at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries: the Culinary Union Workers Local 226 Photographs, the Nevada Digital Newspaper Project, and the Entertainment Project. The authors compare the project management, workflows, and decision-making related to the many aspects of digitizing special collections and archives materials. The projects used both outsourced vendors and in-house labor and equipment to digitize microfilmed newspapers, mixed-materials manuscript collections, and photographic prints and negatives. The large number of objects on orbit today, if observed constantly throughout their lifetimes, could produce a staggeringly large number of observations that might in turn generate large numbers of orbits. Orbit data with a lengthy time history can be used to produce estimates of maneuver frequency, susceptibility to natural forces such as drag, and (if combined with photometric data) assessments of behavioral patterns of life.

The necessity for standards-based ontologies for long-term sustainability of space operations and safety of increasing space flights has been well-established [6, 7]. Current ontologies, such as DARPA’s OrbitOutlook [5], are not publicly available, complicating efforts for their broad adoption. Most sensor data is siloed in proprietary databases [2] and provided only to authorized users, further complicating efforts to create a holistic view of resident space objects (RSOs) in order to enhance space situational awareness (SSA).

The archives profession has, in recent years, exerted considerable effort to become more welcoming and inclusive to diverse archival professionals. Many of these efforts have focused intensively on recruiting a diverse workforce. In this article, the authors propose a new approach through which to create and sustain inclusive archival work environments: caregiving. National research has shown that caregiving responsibilities affect women more than their male counterparts, and within these gender divides there are aspects of caregiving that impact individuals of different racial and cultural backgrounds unequally.
