This paper provides the details of the implementation and challenges of the ILS migration project of Khalifa University University, Abu Dhabi. The University is established by merging the three prominent higher education institutions in Abu Dhabi, namely the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR), the Petroleum Institute (PI), and the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI). Before the merger, KUSTAR library used Innovative Interfaces' Millennium ILS, PI used Sirsi-Dynix's Symphony, and MI used the open-source Koha system (with the support of a service provider). After the merger, the new University decided to choose the KOHA ILS system …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The concept of eHealth literacy refers to the ability of a person to access electronic health information, evaluate the information, and apply the resulting knowledge to address or solve a health problem. Considering the uncertainties and the subjective nature of e-health literacy, determining the levels of students’ e-health literacy is a complex problem. The aim of this research is to develop and implement a fuzzy expert system to determine the level of eHealth literacy anytime and anywhere without accessing the experts personally. Thus, after studying the different methods of measuring people’s literacy level, the Digital Health Literacy Instrument was chosen …

Psychologists have posited two types of driving theories. By dualistic hypotheses, motivation is broken into two forms: Intrinsic and Extrinsic. The attainment of an instrumental purpose relates to Intrinsic Motivation. It has been observed that intrinsic motivation has been a topic of research interest of the researchers due to the importance of the term. Therefore, this paper evaluates the research output on intrinsic motivation since 1959 in different fields using the Scopus database. The data were collected from the Scopus database and were analyzed using Microsoft Excel to analyze the research trends on intrinsic motivation. It is concluded that intrinsic …

Catalogers are increasingly responsible for creating metadata for a variety of unusual items. These may be part of a library’s special collections department or interfiled with the general collection. Luckily, technical services librarians have developed a number of guidelines for cataloging these special formats. This is the fourth installment of ULA’s technical service’s round table cataloging webinar series and will focus on how to catalog broadsides and posters following format specific guidelines and standards.

UL Publications
The Spanish-American War of 1898 ushered in decades of American rule in the Philippines. American colonial administrators established a bureaucracy that included the Bureau of Government Laboratories, later known as the Bureau of Science, which would serve as a central laboratory and also conduct research in the biological sciences, chemical sciences, ethnology, and more. A crucial component of the work of the Bureau was its library, which was headed from 1903 to 1924 by Mary Polk. This article is a study of Polk, the environment in which she worked, and her lasting impact on Philippine librarianship.

Scholarly published scientific journals’ quality and the standard were measured in recent years based on their scientific indicators such as Journal Impact Factor (IF), citation values, and journal ranking values. Any experimental writer and researcher will investigate these factors of journals before publishing their research output. Analyzing and comparing these indicators among different bibliographic databases are welcomed by the research community and will give them some insight to decide or to choose which journals they need to select for publishing their research outputs. The main objective of the research work undertaken was to assess the impact and visibility of 66 …

The Library Management System supports numerous users every day and yet many users cannot avail books in real time for their use. For a user, it will be very beneficial to have a system which can predict the possible availability of the issued books. In this paper, Machine learning is used on the data obtained from the library to predict the date for book availability. Random forest, support vector and neural network are used and the result trend are compared using keres and SKlearn. From the study, the result shows that it is possible to know and govern the availability …
