The purpose of this paper is to present the findings of the users’ perception of library facilities on quality of service at Sam Jonah Library University of Cape Coast, Ghana using Library Quality (LibQUAL) model approach. The present study proposed to focus on the current status of SCO countries Open Access Institutional Repositories. Nowadays, institutional repositories play a vital role in promoting higher education systems and research and development. Data were obtained from the Directory of Open Access Institutional Repositories (DOAR) website. Then collected data have been analysed and represented in graphical formats to clearly understand the study results. Internet and its use have become ubiquitous and its tremendous growth has given way to Social networking sites evolved as the most popular medium of communication. The present study on the kind of information shared, motives and benefits for sharing information as well as the problems encountered while Sharing Knowledge through SNS. The study aims to evaluate the research performance of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), Tamil Nadu, India. The 1933 research publications produced by KARE during the year 2001-2018 were retrieved from Scopus database and taken up for the study. Ms-Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics software were used to analyze the data and bibliometric indicators were applied for evaluation. The publication production found increased year by year but the growth rate is not on par with the quantity growth. 98.2% of the total publications were multi-authored and 98.4% of the publications were produced by research collaborations with the organizations …

Increasing Inclusion Through Audio Described Exhibits: A Case Study, Camryn Vaughn, Erin Baucom, Teressa M. Keenan

Mansfield Library Faculty Publications

Adding audio and/or touch components to library exhibits has been reported to improve accessibility. Audio description replaces important visual content with equivalent spoken information. While initially implemented to assist people who are blind or have low vision, audio description is beneficial for a broader audience. The concise and objective translation of visual content promotes new ways of learning, helps individuals with language development and strengthens writing skills. This case study describes an audio description pilot project and the authors’ successful exploration into developing a cost-effective method of adding an audio description component to library displays and exhibits.

Large publications, such as the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), wield significant influence over clinical practice across all medical specialties. To identify the initial NEJM publications’ characteristics that were associated with a future “significant author” NEJM publication. For this purpose, first, second, and senior author ranks were defined as “significant author” roles.

METHODS: From 2002 – 2019, Medline NEJM original research articles containing a structured abstract were extracted; baseline study characteristics were evaluated as potential predictors of subsequent NEJM successful publication as significant author; the variables evaluated included the index publications’ co-author count, study design (e.g., clinical trial), grant …

Technology is continuously changing, and there are always new tools and mobile apps to test out. There are tools for everything from productivity, audio, communication, content creation and design, coding, automation, VR, video, etc. As many libraries have shifted to remote operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, daily workflows have changed. The NMRT Online Discussion Committee asked members what tools they have found useful in their work at the library or home over the past year. Members shared tools they were interested in trying and which apps help their daily workflow.

This article outlines an exploratory case study to determine how to best serve functionally diverse patrons in a digital landscape through usable and accessible LibGuides at the University of Mississippi Libraries. The literature was reviewed to explore what best practices are implemented when crafting accessible LibGuides. A best practices LibGuide was then created as a resource for librarians to utilize in creating accessible and usable guides. On May 1, 2020, the Needs Assessment Committee submitted their final report of findings and recommendations to the dean of the Oral Roberts University Library, Dr. Mark Roberts. The report represented the culmination of approximately six months of a broad-based investigation of the Library, including an internal examination of the Library and an external study of Library resources, services, and staff. This Needs Assessment was unique in that a team of Library faculty and staff conducted it. The TMC Library is proud to announce the completion of an extensive renovation project of our 1954/1975 building. Starting in early 2019 and concluding December 2020, this project modernized Library space for both independent and collaborative study for the entire Texas Medical Center Community. New lighting, furniture, updated restrooms, and extensive power availability were all part of the modernization project.
