Artikel ini mengkaji penggunaan unsur-unsur agama dalam kampanye politik di Indonesia dari perspektif etis. Penulis berpendapat bahwa penggunaan isi agama dalam kampanye politik adalah kerugian dari sudut pandang etis - khususnya teleologis - karena menyimpang dari tujuan akhirnya untuk mencapai kebaikan yang lebih besar. Untuk mendukung argumen ini, tulisan ini meneliti penggunaan isi agama untuk tujuan politik dari sudut pandang etika teleologis yang mengacu pada karya-karya dalam etika, etika politik, dan komunikasi serta pemikiran tentang nasionalisme.

Penelitian ini melihat gerakan sosial dengan menggunakan perspektif framing. Dua teori digunakan, yaitu teori framing dan teori gerakan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus, yaitu: studi kasus instrumental. Kasus yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah 10 kasus penting yang berkaitan dengan perselisihan antara Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) dan Polisi Nasional (Polri) antara tahun 2009 dan 2012. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, tinjauan dokumen, dan analisis teks. Studies have shown, on a consistent basis, that, while incarcerated, ex-offenders experience lower literacy levels than the general population, suffer emotional and mental distress from a harsh prison life, and suffer from the negative effects of public perception. Ex-offender anger abounds. These factors interfere with an inmate’s ability to communicate effectively. Notwithstanding, upon release from custody, how do we help such ex-offenders communicate? This paper examines how national narratives of Japanese cuisine collide with the expectations, preferences, and perceptions of American consumers (particularly Northern California). The global economy has benefited the circulation of positive images of Japan managed by the Japanese government, but the commercialization of Japanese cuisine is also at odds with government efforts. In Japan, sushi is often synonymous with nigirizushi: sliced seafood and a daub of wasabi atop vinegared rice. As part of Japan’s washoku tradition, this singular image of sushi (allegedly) reflects the deepest essence of Japanese cultural sensibilities tied to simplicity, perfection, and nature. The purpose of this study was to describe agricultural information sources available to farmers and to describe food access and availability for the people of Dangriga, Stann Creek, Belize. This study used descriptive survey research methods with convenience sampling of the general public (n=22) and of farmers (n = 38) in the summer of 2017. Farmers use a variety of agricultural information sources with the extension service cited most often, followed by friends and fellow farmers. This study seeks to use Kim’s Cross-Cultural Adaptation Theory to gain a better understanding of the process students from China go through when they choose to Anglicize their names. This thesis begins with a review of the literature and then discusses the limitations found within the current research on this topic in order to formulate research questions. Qualitative research was conducted using semi-structured interviews and focus groups with international students from China that resulted in various findings. This study investigated just one dependent variable within communication: ethnicity. Ethnicity often influences language. The study examined interethnic communication behaviors through the lens of the Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT), as influenced by one of its offshoots, Ethnolinguistic Identity Theory (ELIT). Communication within CAT is given one of three labels—convergence, divergence, and maintenance. The study included four students at Harding University: two African American females, one Hispanic American female, and one Caucasian American female. Communication in the Emergency Department (ED) is particularly important given the acuity of patients and lack of prior medical history. In India, patient care is further complicated by the many spoken languages, the regional differentiation in language and the fact that medical training is primarily delivered in English. Our objective was to document language diversity among clinicians in Indian EDs linked to an international training program and explore issues related to clinician-clinician and clinician-patient communication.
