Background: Wilson’s disease is a rare genetic disorder characterized by copper accumulation, leading to multi-organ symptoms. It affects between 1 in 30,000 to 1 in 100,000 individuals, with a mean age at diagnosis of 13.2 years. The diagnosis may be overlooked due to its numerous presentations, which can range from non-specific symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and behavioral changes to fulminant hepatic failure. Its clinical manifestations vary widely, making diagnosis during pregnancy particularly challenging. Wilson’s disease complicates pregnancy, as untreated cases can lead to significant morbidity and mortality; excess copper can disrupt metabolic processes and contribute to recurrent miscarriages.

A 46-year-old bodybuilder presenting with new onset dyspnea found to have a new onset non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (CM) attributed to exogenous trenbolone and testosterone use. Steroid cessation and guideline-directed heart failure therapy led to notable recovery in left ventricular function supported by global longitudinal strain, ejection fraction and symptomatology.

Anabolic steroid-induced CM involves multiple mechanisms including lipid disturbances, hypertrophy, reduced receptor sensitivity, and cell damage. This case emphasizes the importance of recognizing anabolic steroid misuse as a potential cause of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy in middle aged men. Background: Short gut syndrome affects both pediatric and adult patients often requiring multiple surgical procedures to improve intestinal function. Identifying methods to improve pain control and reduce opioid consumption is an important consideration for this patient population.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of 115 patients less than 12 years of age undergoing abdominal procedures between August 1, 2012, and December 31, 2019, was performed. From this group, 64 patients had a perioperative abdominal wall fascial plane block performed and were compared to 51 patients who did not have a block performed.

Background: Cardiobacterium hominis (C. hominis) is an uncommon cause of infective endocarditis and often presents sub-acutely with fevers, cardiac murmurs, or embolic phenomena. We present a rare case of C. hominis infective prosthetic valve endocarditis that presented with new-onset atrial flutter and systemic emboli.

Case: A 38-year-old male presented to the emergency department with palpitations, shortness of breath, and chest tightness and was found to be in atrial flutter. Five NCAA Division I cheerleaders (age 20 ± 1.4; 3 males, 2 females) presented with Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS). Following an evaluation, all patients diagnosed with MTSS were treated using Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT). Immediate improvements in reported pain were demonstrated after one treatment. Improvements in perceived dysfunction were demonstrated after 4.2 (± 0.84) treatments over 15.4 (± 5.86) days with no time lost. All improvements were maintained at two-week follow-up. Type II MTSS patients treated with PRRT may experience an immediate, lasting reduction in pain, improvement in function, and shorter time to overall resolution.

Time and work demands are high for the collegiatea athletic trainer, which can increase work stress and burnout may result. High perceived levels of stress and burnout can impact an athletic trainer’s mental health and wellness. Data were collected via an online descriptive, cross-sectional survey (Qualtrics) examining the perceived stress and coping strategies used among athletic trainers employed in the collegiate setting. Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (CuTS), a condition caused by compression of the ulnar nerve, results in numbness, tingling, pain, and even muscle atrophy, affecting fine motor skills and diminishing patient quality of life. Accurate diagnosis of CuTS is challenging, as current diagnostic methods—including clinical exams, nerve conduction studies, and unaided MRI—often lack the precision to reliably identify the nerve and detect compression in its early stages. Background/Objectives: Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 (TRPM8) is a non-selective, Ca2+-permeable cation channel involved in thermoregulation and other physiological processes, such as basal tear secretion, cell differentiation, and insulin homeostasis. The activation and deactivation of TRPM8 occur through genetic modifications, channel interactions, and signaling cascades. Recent evidence suggests a significant role of TRPM8 in the hypothalamus and amygdala related to pain sensation and sexual behavior. Notably, TRPM8 has been implicated in neuropathic pain, migraines, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease. The primary cilium is a cellular antenna to orchestrate cell growth and differentiation. Deficient or dysfunctional cilia are frequently linked to skeletal abnormalities. Previous research demonstrated that ciliary proteins regulating axoneme elongation are essential for skeletogenesis. However, the role of the ciliary proteins responsible for initiating cilium assembly in skeletal development remains unknown. Here, we investigate the function of centrosomal protein of 164 kDa (CEP164), a key ciliogenesis regulator that localizes at the distal appendages of the mother centriole, during skeletal development in mice. PK is an innate and indispensable component of the dose-schedule optimization. Motivated by this, we propose a Bayesian PK integrated dose-schedule finding (PKIDS) design to identify the optimal dose-schedule regime by integrating PK, toxicity, and efficacy data. Aim: Neurofilament light chain (NfL) is a nonspecific sensitive biomarker of axonal damage.

Methods: This case series identified cancer patients with neurological complications who had serum NfL measurements and paired these results to outcomes.

Results: NfL serum levels were available in 15 patients with hematological malignancies or solid tumors. The neurological complications studied were immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome, immune checkpoint inhibitor-related encephalopathy, anoxic brain injury, Guillain-Barre syndrome, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, transverse myelitis, paraneoplastic syndrome, central nervous system demyelinating disorder and chronic lymphocytic inflammation with pontine perivascular enhancement responsive to steroids. Background: Graft loss is a major health concern for kidney transplant (KTx) recipients. It is of clinical interest to develop a prognostic model for both graft function, quantified by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and the risk of graft failure. Additionally, the model should be dynamic in the sense that it adapts to accumulating longitudinal information, including time-varying at-risk population, predictor-outcome association, and clinical history.
