This paper introduces a machine-learning-based application that utilizes Support Vector Machine (SVM), Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), and XGBoost models, implemented through the Python Flask framework, to predict HF risk using clinical data. BACKGROUND: With a focus on metabolism-related cardiovascular diseases, the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been used as a surrogate marker of insulin resistance in the prognosis of coronary heart disease. However, the prognostic role of the TyG index in patients with elevated triglycerides, still requires further research. This study aimed to investigate the association between the TyG index and Major Adverse Cardiac and Cerebrovascular Events (MACCE) in patients with hypertriglyceridemia undergoing drug-eluting stent percutaneous coronary intervention (DES-PCI).

Intro: For older community members experiencing homelessness, both their housing status and age are associated with increased cardiovascular risk. Lack of consistent protection from outdoor temperatures are hypothesized to affect variation in blood pressure seasonally. In this study, we sought to compare older (55+) and younger (under 55) individuals in this cohort and identify within-group associations between blood pressure (BP) and mean daily temperature (MDT) as affected by season.

Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a congenital heart disease with four distinct characteristics: pulmonary valve stenosis, overriding aorta, right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH), and ventral septal defect (VSD). Surgical correction is now an option with 98% survival rate. Patients with repaired TOF (rTOF) often reach adulthood and can transition out of pediatric care. Unfortunately, providers trained to care for adults with congenital heart defects are not readily available. This has caused a lapse in care for many individuals with TOF. Transthyretin amyloidosis occurs in two forms, hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (hATTR), and wild-type ATTR (wtATTR)². Amyloidosis can result in restrictive cardiomyopathy presenting as heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)⁴. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that amyloidosis may be underdiagnosed and can be caught earlier in the disease course⁵. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) remains a leading global health challenge, with low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol a pivotal risk factor. While statins are cornerstone therapy for lowering LDL cholesterol, many high-risk primary prevention patients are unable to tolerate statin therapy and do not achieve their guideline directed LDL cholesterol goal. For these patients, non-statin therapies offer complementary and alternative approaches to LDL cholesterol reduction.

There are currently no vaccines against M. pneumoniae, and the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant strains of M. pneumoniae is on the rise.1 During infection, M. pneumoniae produces a toxin called Community Acquired Respiratory Distress Syndrome (CARDS) toxin, which plays a role in establishing infection. Analysis of the crystal structure of CARDS toxin protein reveals three protein domains: D1, D2,and D3.

LQTS can be caused by congenital mutations of ion channels or acquired through conditions, medications, and environmental factors. Prolongation of the QT interval can trigger deadly arrhythmia including torsade de pointes (TdP). Hypertension is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney diseases but is often under-diagnosed and poorly managed. Electronic Health Records (EHR) can help by providing automated reminders to recheck elevated blood pressure (BP) readings, ensuring accurate measurements, and guiding clinical interventions. This study aims to determine if EHR-based reminders improve BP control in adult patients aged 21 and older, focusing on hypertension diagnosis accuracy and timely management.

Delirium is a common neurological complication in patients with advanced heart failure (ADHF) following left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation, significantly impacting recovery. This study aimed to analyze non-contrast computed tomography (CT) scans of the brain in ADHF patients undergoing LVAD implantation to determine the association between pre-existing brain atrophy and postoperative delirium. Many patients with sinus node dysfunction have physiologically normal atrioventricular conduction, so an atrial-only pacing system may be appropriate for them. Three patients with symptomatic sinus node dysfunction underwent device implantation with electrophysiologic study, including incremental atrial pacing until loss of 1:1 atrioventricular conduction (atrioventricular Wenckebach cycle length) and His-ventricular interval measurement. INTRODUCTION: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic cerebrovascular disorder characterized by progressive stenosis or occlusion of the internal carotid arteries and the development of collateral moyamoya vessels. Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are congenital vascular anomalies that can lead to severe complications, including hemorrhage and neurological deficits. This study compares the outcomes of microsurgical resection and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for SM grade I and II AVMs. Out of a large multicenter registry, we identified 180 matched patients with SM grade I and II AVMs treated with either microsurgical resection or SRS between 2010 and 2023. OBJECTIVES: The authors assessed associations of erythritol and its downstream metabolite, erythronate, with cardiovascular risk factors and events in older adults in the ARIC (Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities) study (visit 5, 2011-2013).

METHODS: We included 4,006 participants without prevalent cardiovascular disease and with metabolomic profiling. Erythritol and erythronate were measured by mass spectrometry. BACKGROUND: Adiponectin, an atheroprotective adipokine, is associated with adverse outcomes in older age. It is unclear whether this is due to overlapping pathophysiological pathways with N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP).

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC), or "broken heart syndrome," is a rare cardiac condition causing temporary left ventricular dysfunction due to severe stress. Though the exact cause is unclear, it mimics myocardial infarction and can lead to cardiogenic shock. Current treatment lacks specific guidelines and relies on heart failure protocols. We report a case of a patient with TC-induced cardiogenic shock, likely triggered by emotional stress. She required vasopressors, a percutaneous intervention, an Impella device, and guideline-directed medication therapies. This case underscores the significance of establishing guideline optimizations for managing TC and cardiogenic shock.
