This study investigated the effect of matching teaching style with learning style on achievement and attitudes for women in a web-based distance education course. The study investigated the extent that women who received instrnction in a web-based environment that matched their learning styles as deten11ined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (thinking dominant, feeling dominant, sensing dominant, and intuition dominant) would achieve better and have more positive attitudes toward the course than did women whose learning styles did not match the teaching style. After systematically using educational games in three secondary English classes over a one-year period, this project documents the effectiveness of games by analyzing students' opinions. Surveys were used to determine the perceptions of 150 students about the actual games used in their classes. Some examples of effective games are also given.

This thesis describes the development of the application mapCAST, a computer-based concept-mapping tool that allows synchronous collaboration via TCP/IP networks, such as the Internet The useability and feasibility of mapCAST as a computer-based tool was examined and analysed in a real world situation. Results indicate that mapCAST is successful as a collaborative tool in a situations involving knowledge organisation, but lacks certain functionality that many Macintosh users are accustomed to.

EthnoQuest, an interactive multimedia CD-ROM simulating a visit to a fictional village named Amopan, was conceived as an adjunct to college-level classroom instruction in introductory anthropology courses. Since these classes typically involve large numbers of students, the logistics on conducting actual fieldwork pose serious problems for instructors and students alike. The conception of an engaging, interactive, accessible learning tool that incorporates appropriate pedagogical principles has found its ultimate expression in EthnoQuest.
