Rivers flowing to the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Timor Sea have been estimated by hydrologists to carry about three times the water transported annually over the Murray drainage system and the South Eastern slopes which, together, comprise the highly settled agricultural areas of South Eastern Australia.
In 1945, the North Australian Development Committee recommended research in the Ord-Victoria rivers region as a first step toward ultimate agricultural development of this Northern potential and, in 1946, the Kim- berley Research Station commenced operations under the joint control of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization and the Western Australian Department …

Sheep Programmes For Esperance Settlers With Limited Finance, R J. Doyle, G. D. Oliver
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
FARMING in the Esperance region has now passed through the phase of experimentation into the phase of consolidation.
But not all new settlers are prosperous.
On occasions, a lifetime ambition to own and operate a farm has ended in failure because the settler has been forced through economic circumstances to give up his block.
Too often this follows the unequal struggle of trying to develop a block with too little capital.

Commercial Farm Law: The Uniform Commercial Code, Thomas B. Allington, Clayton K. Yeutter
Commercial Farm Law: The Uniform Commercial Code, Thomas B. Allington, Clayton K. Yeutter
Department of Agricultural Economics: Faculty Publications
Commercial law includes such topics as sales contracts, notes, checks, shipping and storage documents, and a variety of financing instruments. Over the years much of the law on these topics has become complex, confusing, and often obsolete. The Uniform Commercial Code, or U.C.C., is designed, first, to bring about uniformity in state laws governing commerce, and second, to clarify, simplify, and modernize these laws. The Code's success in this respect is shown by the fact that it has now been adopted by almost all states. It became effective in Nebraska on September 2, 1965. Drafting of the U.C.C. dates back …

Fruit Growing In Western Australia, Western Australian Department Of Agriculture, Western Australian Tourist Development Authority
Horticulture published reports
Revised 1965.
The Mediterranean type climate of the coastal belt of the south-west of Western Australia is suitable for the commercial production of apples, pears, various stone fruits, oranges, grapes, and several other less important fruits. The warm dry summers (November-March), are too severe for the profitable production of many berry fruits and the winters too cool and wet for most tropical fruits. Figs, mulberries and olives all flourish in this climate but, for economic reasons, few are grown commercially.
A small tropical fruit industry, mainly bananas, has been established along the banks of the Gascoyne River at Carnarvon, which …

A History Of The War Service Land Settlement Scheme Western Australia, A, R. Barrett
Farm Systems and Economics published reports
In writing a history of the Western Australian War Service Land Settlement Scheme, it is pertinent to remark that land settlement projects have ever been difficult and, in fact, to date very few have been really successful. However, there has always been the necessity to accede to the desire of returning men to go on the land, also in States such as Western Australia there was and still is the need for further land development. Therefore, when the Commonwealth Government offered to provide the funds for servicemen's rehabilitation on the land the State gladly accepted and agreed to take responsibility …

Agriculture In Western Australia. 3. The Economic Potential Of The Wongan-Ballidu Shire. Part 1, G D. Oliver, A. W. Hogstrom
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
IN West Australian agriculture there is a considerable "backlog" of information available to farmers which is not being used in practical farming. This, of course, is true of agricultural industries anywhere in the world.
This "backlog" results in a big difference in productivity between the best farms and the "average" farms in each district.
This article is a simple economic study of the potential of one shire of Western Australia.

Agriculture In Western Australia, A W. Hogstrom
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
A review of the development of agriculture in Western Australia with an outline of the distribution and importance of present agricultural and pastoral enterprises.
WESTERN Australia's economy has always been largely dominated by its pastoral and agricultural activities.
For short periods gold has given greater annual returns than the products of farms and stations, but these periods have never been very long.
Only in recent years has the value of factory production equalled that of our stations and farms.

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
IN recent years, much sound advice has been made available to poultry farmers to assist them in developing their properties and operating them on profitable lines.
Much of this advice has been utilised to good advantage, but there are still many properties on which the profits are being reduced by feed wastage, damage by rats and mice, lack of sufficient attention to egg quality, unnecessarily high labour costs and failure to keep farm records.
