Impact Of Environment, Social, And Governance On Cost Of Equity: Evidence From Asia Pacific Markets, Panida Uaariyapoonpong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study examines the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, proxied by the ESG Combined Score, on the cost of equity (COE), measured by the CAPM, for companies in the Asia-Pacific region from 2015 to 2022. It also explores how this relationship is influenced by economic crises and market development levels. The findings indicate a negative correlation, where higher ESG performance leads to a lower COE. Specifically, the environmental and governance pillars are negatively associated with COE, similarly reducing equity costs, while the social pillar shows no significant effect. The research also studies the impact of economic conditions …

The genesis of most older medicinal agents has generally been empirical. During the past one and a half centuries, at least in the Western countries, discovering and developing drugs has been primarily the domain of pharmaceutical companies largely built upon concepts emerging from organic chemistry. Public sector funding for the discovery of new therapeutics has more recently stimulated local, national, and international groups to band together and focus on new human disease targets and novel treatment approaches. This Perspective describes one contemporary example of a newly formed collaboration that was simulated by a regional drug discovery consortium. University of Virginia, …

It is unclear to what extent ATs negotiate salary or other terms of employment during the hiring process.
Objective
To explore the negotiation practices of ATs during the hiring process.
Design
Cross-sectional study.
Setting

Comparing The Performance Of Initial Coin Offerings To Crowdfunded Equity Ventures, Elijah Joseph Turan
Comparing The Performance Of Initial Coin Offerings To Crowdfunded Equity Ventures, Elijah Joseph Turan
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Uncertainty in markets increases the likelihood of market failure due to volatility and suboptimal functioning. While initial coin offerings (ICOs) and crowdfunded equity (CFE) offerings may improve functioning in growing markets, there is a lack of knowledge and understanding pertaining to the relative efficiency and behavior of ICO markets compared to CFE markets, potentially perpetuating and thwarting the various communities they are intended to serve. The purpose of this correlational study was to compare a group of ICOs with a group of CFE offerings to identify predictive factors of funding outcomes related to both capital offering types. Efficient market hypothesis …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Almost 80% of U.S. companies have an employee recognition program. Although there is a great deal of research on the factors that affect employees' job satisfaction in general, little is known about the effect of employee appreciation methods on support staff's job satisfaction within higher education institutions. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine the effect of seven employee appreciation methods on the job satisfaction of support staff within higher education institutions. The study's theoretical framework consisted of Abraham Maslow’s theory of motivation, Victor Vroom’s expectancy theory, Frederick Herzberg’s motivation-hygiene theory, and Arne Kallenberg’s theory of job satisfaction. …

Examining The Relationship Of Social Inclusion On Job Satisfaction And Turnover Intentions Of Us Post-9/11 Veterans, Sheree' L. Peters
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Many American veterans return to the civilian workforce and report having problems reintegrating into society, as well as finding their role in the new corporate social realms. Over 80% leave their civilian jobs within the first two years of employment, and over 70% report experiencing feelings of loneliness. Recently, the World Health Organization reported that the lack of perceived social inclusion also has a significant economic impact on both individuals and societies. A quantitative, nonexperimental methodology was used to examine the moderating relationship of social inclusion on the relationship between job employee turnover intentions of post-9/11 enlisted veterans. This study …

Speed-Accuracy Tradeoffs In Decision Making: Perception Shifts And Goal Activation Bias Decision Thresholds, Jeff Larson, Guy Hawkins
Speed-Accuracy Tradeoffs In Decision Making: Perception Shifts And Goal Activation Bias Decision Thresholds, Jeff Larson, Guy Hawkins
Faculty Publications
A fundamental aspect of decision making is the speed-accuracy tradeoff (SAT): slower decisions tend to be more accurate, but because time is a scarce resource people prefer to conclude decisions more quickly. The current research adds to the SAT literature by documenting two previously unrecognized influences on the SAT: perception shifts and goal activation. Decision makers’ perceptions of what constitutes a fast or a slow decision, and what constitutes an accurate or inaccurate decision, are based on prior experience, and these perceptions influence decision speed. Similarly, previous experience in a decision context associates the context with a particular decision goal. …

A Case Study Of Joint Accountability Mechanism And Interorganizational Collaboration In Post-Earthquake Haiti, Jude J. Jean-Gilles
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Abstract: The earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, caused massive destruction of its capital city Port-au-Prince and its suburbs and killed over a quarter of million people. The recovery period that followed required effectiveness to plan and mobilize resources. The magnitude of the destruction, lack of local recovery plans or previous disaster experience, and scarcity of local resources inspired the creation of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC), a compilation of local and international stakeholders who agreed to collaboratively address the recovery challenges. Several studies have examined post-earthquake recovery initiatives under the leadership of local governments, but having …

Relationship Between Opportunity For Advancement, Salary/Pay, And Retail Salesperson Turnover Intentions, Edith Mae Thompson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractEmployee turnover intention is the principal antecedent and predictor of employee turnover behavior, which is a substantial threat to automotive retail dealerships’ current and future organizational performance. Understanding employee turnover intentions is vital for dealership general managers to reduce salesperson turnover, manage dealership costs, and maintain dealership competitive advantages. Grounded in Herzberg’s two-factor theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between opportunity for advancement, salary/pay, and employee turnover intention among automobile salespeople. Using an online survey administered by Survey Monkey, data were collected from 76 retail salespeople in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. The survey …

AbstractWhen employees leave their jobs voluntarily, the unexpected loss can significantly impact a company's bottom line, including a drop in revenue, morale, and productivity. Employee turnover is a challenge for plant managers in automotive manufacturing because of the high expense of recruiting, hiring, and orienting new workers. Grounded in Herzberg’s two-factor theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple-case study was to explore strategies plant managers in the automotive manufacturing industry use to reduce voluntary employee turnover. The participants were four Alabama manufacturing plant managers who reduced excessive employee turnover. Semistructured interviews and available public information were used to collect data. …
