Introduction
For both William Bennett, sculptor, and Elizabeth Schoyer, painter, art is a voyaging: invoking, acknowledging, celebrating the forces and mysteries of life's passages.
Bennett builds up, with stone, glass, copper, lights, and wood, exquisitely crafted monumental forms: The Voyage, The Boat over Ocean over Ocean, Stigmata, Bed of Dreams, Belly Scepter among them. Dissertations and Theses
The ceramic forms in this thesis project represent a study of the sculptural and figurative qualities of the ceramic process. This study includes a search for a personal form language, development of the slab construction technique, and development of a glazed surface appropriate to the work. The subject of the work is the human torso, with the vessel-like forms focusing on the core of the body as a metaphor for the core of the human spirit.

"On Art: by Lydia Douce" provides coverage of a year (1990) in the life of the visual arts in Richmond, Virginia. Artists reviewed include VCU faculty such as Christopher Silliman and Javier Tapia; many notable fixtures of the Richmond scene (Wolfgang Jasper, Andras Bality, Diana Detamore, Davi Det Hompson); and national and international artists who exhibited in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and VCU's Anderson Gallery. Authorship was at the time anonymous.
