Religion, Rock, Rhythm: An Analysis Of Graphic Design Problems And The Evolution Of Their Solutions, Chris Meux
Theses and Dissertations
The three series of works discussed in this thesis, Our Transgressions, a series of typography posters, the Vinyl Icon Collection, a series of album covers, and the Portraits of Rhythm series of image transfers, were created specifically to address areas in my art work that could be improved resulting in stronger designs. After my faculty advisory committee analyzed my application portfolio, they provided me with feedback on areas in my work that could use improvement. This thesis will analyze how these areas of concern were addressed in each series as well as demonstrate how improvements were made within the individual …
Setting Expectations And Finding Respect And Job Satisfaction As A Technical Writer, Heather Iacobacci-Miller
Setting Expectations And Finding Respect And Job Satisfaction As A Technical Writer, Heather Iacobacci-Miller
Theses and Dissertations
Out of an unhappy work experience as a lone technical writer, I became curious about the experiences of other technical writers. Were they similar to mine? If not, what did they know that I did not? What does the literature say? I answered these questions using my personal experiences, literary research, and a three-part study that included an initial survey, an in-depth survey, and personal interviews. I found three common themes: 1) varied definitions and job descriptions for technical writers, 2) a common feeling that many employers do not understand what technical writers do, and 3) a common need to …
Storied Things: A Memoir In Possessions, Erin Pennington
Storied Things: A Memoir In Possessions, Erin Pennington
Theses and Dissertations
Storied Things: A Memoir in Possessions is a personal essay collection comprised of stories behind objects of importance to the author. The subjects of the essays range in scope from family heirlooms and artifacts to those objects intended for consumption. The objects explored reflect the author's identity, become the touch points for present and past, indicate connection and disconnect, and serve as catalysts for the author's imagination.

Stat3 Contributes To Resistance Towards Bcr-Abl Inhibitors In A Bone Marrow Microenvironment Model Of Drug Resistance In Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cells, Nadine N. Bewry
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Imatinib mesylate (imatinib) represents a potent molecularly targeted therapy against the oncogenic tyrosine kinase, BCR-ABL. Although imatinib has shown considerable efficacy against chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), displaying high rates of complete hematological and complete cytogenetic responses, treatment with imatinib is not curative and overtime advanced-stage CML patients often become refractory to further treatment. Acquired resistance to imatinib has been associated with mutations within the kinase domain of BCR-ABL, BCR-ABL gene amplification, leukemic stem cell quiescence as well as over-expression of the multidrug resistance (MDR1) gene. However, in vitro resistance models often fail to consider the role of the tumor microenvironment …
Like Nixon To China: The Exhibition Of Slavery In The Valentine Museum And The Museum Of The Confederacy, Meghan Theresa Naile
Like Nixon To China: The Exhibition Of Slavery In The Valentine Museum And The Museum Of The Confederacy, Meghan Theresa Naile
Theses and Dissertations
This study analyzes two successful exhibitions on American slavery in the South: In Bondage and Freedom: Antebellum Black Life in Richmond, Virginia, 1790-1860 by the Valentine Museum and Before Freedom Came: African American Life in the Antebellum South by the Museum of the Confederacy. It puts the exhibitions in the context of the social history movement, and explains the difficulties exhibiting a sensitive topic. It examines the creation of the exhibitions, the controversies because of the subject, both real and potential, and the overwhelmingly positive reaction.
