This paper presents an advanced method to determine explanatory variables required for developing deterioration models without the interference of human bias. Although a stationary set of explanatory variables is ideal for long-term monitoring and asset management, the penalty regression results vary annually due to the innate bias in the inspection data. In this study, weighting factors were introduced to consider the inspection data collected for several years, and the most stationary set was identified. A numerical model incorporated in finite element PLAXIS program is presented in this paper to simulate the behavior of an "L-shaped" very stiff reinforced concrete prototype wall. The proposed numerical model has been calibrated and validated experimental results conducted previously at Manchester University. Subsequent suppression of the slaves, and by extension their religion and places of worship, generated a lack of understanding and misunderstanding about Islam. Over time, this misunderstanding evolved into xenophobic and orientalist representations of the religion. Shear wave velocity (Vs) anisotropy of kaolinite mixed with sodium chloride (NaCl) and organic polymer (polyethylene oxide, xanthan gum, and chitosan) solutions was investigated using a custom-made floating wall consolidometer-type bender element testing system. The addition of salt and polymers influenced the microfabric anisoopy of platy kaolinite particles, thus resulted in the increment or decrement in the Vs anisotropy. The Vs of kaolinite in all three orthogonal directions increased as the NaCl concentration increased; however, the Vs anisotropy decreased. PEO and chitosan increased the Vs of kaolinite, while xanthan gum exhibited counter-effects. Vs anisotropy (Vs−hh/Vs−vh and Vs−hv/Vs−vh) of polymer amended …

In this work the frictional properties of single and plyed yarns were studied. The yarn coefficient of friction was found to be affected by the sliding speed over guides, yarn count and guide diameter. The method of twisting (ring or two-for-one) was also found to have a substantial influence on the friction behavior of plyed yarns.

In 2016, Eagle Mountain City (EMC) entered into a collaborative agreement with Utah State University Extension to complete several water conservation projects. These projects include Water Checks, landscape water conservation publications, educational programs, and a water-wise landscape design for Eagle Mountain City Hall and a nearby roundabout.

The Water Check program is sponsored by Utah State University’s (USU) Center for Water Efficient Landscaping (CWEL) and offers residential water efficiency checks to EMC residents. Data collected from the Water Check program includes lot size, square feet (sf) of turfgrass, sprinkler types, sprinkler efficiency, and existing watering schedules.
