Smart utilities comprise an important aspect of modern smart cities. The aim of this work is to present a case study for implementing a solar- energy-based electric vehicle charging station (for the first time on a campus in Egypt) at the British University in Egypt. The total amount of energy needed for charging each electric vehicle (EV) was estimated to be 13.3—16.2 kWh. The EV is operated by 12 batteries. A theoretical study of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) beams subjected to biaxial bending moments is presented with a focus on the influence of higher-order effects on maximum normal stresses. It is shown that the biaxial bending type of loading causes a dramatic increase in the maximum normal stress for a GFRP beam when induced torsional effects are included. The study demonstrates that the traditional first-order theory can grossly underestimate the maximum normal stress in a GFRP beam. ปัจจุบันทั่วโลกให้ความสำคัญกับการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน เช่นเดียวกันในประเทศไทยซึ่งมีอุดสาหกรรมการท่องเที่ยวที่สร้างเม็ดเงินทางเศรษฐกิจมหาศาล แต่ก็เป็นภาคที่บริโภคพลังงานและสร้างผลกระทบมากมายเช่นกัน งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดการเข้าร่วมการรับรอง กลยุทธ์การดำเนินงานด้านความยั่งยืน รวมถึงผลจากการดำเนินงานนั้น ของรีสอร์ตในจังหวัดภูเก็ต ที่ได้รับการรับรองโรงแรมที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมในระดับ ทอง เงิน และทองแดง ระดับละ 1 กรณีศึกษา รวม 3 กรณีศึกษา และสรุปบทเรียนเพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนาอุตสหกรรมการท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืนของไทยจากผลการศึกษาพบว่า 1) รีสอร์ตมีการปรับตัวสู่การเป็นที่พักที่มีการดำเนินการด้านความยั่งยืน โดยมีปัจจัยในการเข้าร่วมการรับรองโรงแรมที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม คือ ปัจจัยด้านการต่อยอดทางธุรกิจ ปัจจัยด้านสภาพแวดล้อมและที่ตั้ง และปัจจัยแนวคิดด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของผู้บริหาร 2) กลยุทธ์การดำเนินงานด้านความยั่งยืนที่รีสอร์ตกรณีศึกษาเน้นมากที่สุด 4 หมวด ได้แก่ (1) ด้านการจัดการทรัพยากรและพลังงาน (2) ด้านการมีส่วนร่วมกับชุมชน (3) ด้านการจัดซื้อจัดจ้าง และ (4) ด้านการพัฒนาบุคลากร เนื่องจากธุรกิจที่พักแรมเป็นการลงทุนในระยะยาว สิ่งสำคัญคือการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรเพื่อลดค่าใช้จ่าย รวมถึงพัฒนาบริการเพื่อสร้างรายได้ 3) ผลการดำเนินงานพบว่าค่าคะแนนภายใต้การดำเนินการด้านความยั่งยืนโดยรวมเป็นไปในทิศทางบวก อีกทั้งมุมมองผู้ประกอบการมองว่าการเข้าร่วมการรับรองดังกล่าวมีผลตอบรับที่ดี ทั้งจากผู้เข้าพัก พนักงาน และชุมชน โดยมองว่าทุกฝ่ายได้ผลประโยชน์ร่วมกัน แต่อย่างไรก็ตามผู้เข้าพักอาจมีข้อคิดเห็นในเชิงลบอยู่บ้าง เนื่องจากอาจขาดความเข้าใจในการดำเนินงานของรีสอร์ต จากผลการศึกษาชี้ให้เห็นว่ากรณีศึกษาระดับทองมีการดำเนินงานตามแผนงานที่ชัดเจน ปฏิบัติได้จริง ที่สอดคล้องตามตัวชี้วัดของเกณฑ์โรงแรมที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ส่วนกรณีศึกษาระดับเงิน มีการดำเนินงานอย่างจริงจังใน 3 โครงการหลักอยู่เดิมจึงเป็นการเข้าร่วมโครงการเพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์การดำเนินงาน และต่อยอดไปยังการรับรองและรางวัลด้านความยั่งยืนอื่น ขณะที่กรณีศึกษาระดับทองแดงที่มีข้อแตกต่างด้านที่ตั้ง ซึ่งอยู่ในพื้นที่ท่องเที่ยวเชิงวิถีชุมชน มีการบูรณาการร่วมกับการประชาสัมพันธ์ทางการตลาดเป็นหลัก

AbstractCulturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) is an approach to teaching that emphasizes teaching within the culture of the student. Culturally relevant pedagogy is proposed to help African American students increase reading achievement, yet research shows it is sometimes unclear to teachers how to implement CRP in their classrooms. Understanding teachers’ efficacy in using CRP and perceptions of CRP is important because it has been linked to increasing student reading achievement. Locally slender cross-section members, such as cold-formed steel Cee and Zee sections, are susceptible to significant twisting and high warping torsion stresses. Torsion considerations are complicated by whether it is derived as a first-order effect from loading or a second-order effect from instability. The current design for combined bending and torsion interaction has some limitations, including only considering the first yield in torsion and ignoring the cross-section slenderness in torsion. Non-profit organizations, consisting of community volunteers and researchers from abroad, are on the forefront of these restoration practices. Protecting these forests prevents local families from starving and keeps their homes from flooding. This plan proposes the replacement of the current Amtrak Staples Mill Station with a new facility designed to incorporate civic art, multi-use development, and fast and easy train boarding. Drawing on successful examples like Union Station in D.C. and Main Street Station in Richmond, this plan encourages stakeholders to adopt a strategic vision for the station and its vicinity as an asset to the region. An independent commission with equal representation from state agency representatives and residents would enact these improvements through a public-private partnership, including a transit-oriented development scheme for adjacent land.

Promoting cycling is one of the low-hanging fruits to decarbonizing transportation, with further extensive benefits to quality of life. The main deterrent to the adoption of cycling for transportation is the lack of safe and connected infrastructure. This thesis explores and compares the case studies of Paris and Bogotá, where cycling modal shares grew significantly within the last decade.
