Following the Protestant Reformation, Spain was in a unique position compared to the rest of Europe. The importance of Catholicism was intrinsic to Spanish society by this point, as it was under King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, aptly dubbed the Catholic Monarchs, that the Christians reconquered the Iberian peninsula in 1492, after an eight century rule by Arab-Muslims. In the centuries that followed, Spanish architecture reached new levels of grandeur in the wake of reformed Catholic doctrine. Renewable Energy Community (REC) is an emerging concept that empowers local customers to generate decentralized renewable energy. Integrating RECs into the building industry presents a promising opportunity to support the transition toward net-zero cities. However, the viability of RECs depends on regional regulatory frameworks, permitted governance structures, and very importantly, business models. Compared to pioneering European countries, Canada lacks the regulatory support needed to fully enable REC. We evaluate two schemes of service contracting (SC) program implemented for the first time in the Philippines: gross-cost and net-cost. Using an automatic vehicle location (AVL) dataset generated using a mobile application, we examine the supply and performance of jeepney, a form of paratransit, on 20 routes during the pandemic. Ten of these routes are under gross-cost, and the other ten are under net-cost. Our evaluation suggests that gross-cost SC has resulted in more kilometer-run travelled, more arrivals at the stop, shorter headway duration, which are indicative of increased supply, compared to net-cost. This thesis examines two Manhattan neighborhoods, Battery Park City and Alphabet City, through the lens of New Urbanism—an urban planning approach developed in the 1990s. New Urbanist principles prioritize walkability, connectivity, mixed-use development, diversity, varied housing options, architectural quality, green transportation, sustainability, and accessible green spaces. While Battery Park City represents a top-down, master-planned New Urbanist neighborhood based on a 1979 plan, Alphabet City emerged from the 1811 Manhattan grid with significant community-driven design, notably through community gardens and grassroots initiatives. As a result, establishing effective methodologies to evaluate cycling equity is critically important. This paper synthesizes research on infrastructure asset management with a focus on equity considerations in bicycle infrastructure. The Build Digital Annual Survey 2024 presents a sector-wide snapshot of digital adoption and transformation across Ireland’s construction and built environment sector. Based on 137 responses, the report shows that most participating organisations have begun their digital transformation journey, with expected benefits including improved accuracy, operational efficiency, quality, cost reduction, and faster clash resolution. The findings indicate widespread use of common digital deliverables and increasing awareness of ISO 19650, CDEs, OpenBIM, and CWMF BIM requirements. However, the report also identifies persistent challenges, including skills gaps, uneven training provision, limited digital competence, and variable implementation of BIM requirements across public and …

This thesis studies the social mobility of French-Canadian immigrants to the Keweenaw Peninsula 1880-1940 and memory among their descendants to explain how French-Canadian culture in the Keweenaw faded over time. Oral histories were conducted to gain an understanding of the current French-Canadian culture in the Keweenaw, understand how the current generation perceives changes in culture over time, and provide possible explanations for why French-Canadians thrived in the Keweenaw. From 1966 until 2001, the World Trade Center complex and its skyscraper Twin Towers were a defining architectural feature of New York City and a landmark in architectural modernism. Minoru Yamasaki, the project’s architect, intended the massive complex to be a “mecca” that drew in and inspired urban workers, exemplifying the Islamic architectural language that he incorporated into his architecture. As of 2024, Virginia’s Central Region continues to produce one of the highest rates of foster care emancipations in the state, despite having minimal infrastructure to support young adults transitioning out of care. Each year, dozens of foster youth in the region age out of the system without reunification, adoption, or other forms of permanency, disproportionately entering adulthood without the stability of housing, employment, or accessible services.
