La « Mimèsis » Dans Le Théâtre Et La Peinture, Joanna Raad 2018 IESAV, Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth

La « Mimèsis » Dans Le Théâtre Et La Peinture, Joanna Raad

Regards

Regards

The evolution of technologies in the audiovisual and theatre fields has succeeded in breaking the separation between actors and digital bodies. What is an actor today? Is he still essential on stage or in film? And what about digital bodies and their ability to produce and convey emotions and performances in the same way as a human actor?

Meyerhold, dubbed “the people’s artist” by the Soviet regime, led a tumultuous artistic life and carried out provocative experiments in unconventional theatre settings. After cofounding the Moscow Art Theatre with renowned colleagues such as Stanislavski and Danchenko, he left the company to regain his independence as an actor and stage director. He then developed his theoretical concept of “conditional theatre,” reinterpreting classical plays in innovative ways and reimagining them within a renewed contemporary theatrical context.

Rana Azzaz 2018 IESAV, Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth

مسـرح شـوشـو للأطفال, Rana Azzaz

Theatre for children is grounded in imaginative creativity and forms an educational, intellectual, and aesthetic tradition that refines a child’s spirit while developing taste, a sense of beauty, and openness. In Lebanon, plays designed for children began appearing in professional theatre venues in the late 1960s. The “Chouchou Children’s Theatre” was among the earliest and most significant initiatives, drawing a strong response from young audiences. In this article, I examine this phenomenon – which emerged spontaneously and without a clear methodology – with particular attention to audience reception.

Stanislavsky Inspired Acting Lessons For Life And Leadership, Harrison O. Long Prof. 2018 Kennesaw State University

Stanislavsky Inspired Acting Lessons For Life And Leadership, Harrison O. Long Prof.

Journal of Global Initiatives: Policy, Pedagogy, Perspective

An artist’s creative work can become the primary lens through which he or she sees the world; it is a fundamental tool for interpreting life. But artistry can also teach a great deal about effective leadership. Based on the principles of Konstantin Stanislavsky, the father of modern acting, this essay reflects on five important lessons for life and leadership: The Power of Purpose, The Power of Context, The Power of Listening, The Power of Partnerships, and The Power of Community. After a year of studying Russian culture, history, and foreign policy, I believe these lessons can be applied on the …

Contradictionary Lies: A Play Not About Kurt Cobain, Katie R. Wallace 2018 Cleveland State University

Contradictionary Lies: A Play Not About Kurt Cobain, Katie R. Wallace

ETD Archive

Contradictionary Lies: A Play Not About Kurt Cobain is a one-act play that follows failed rocker Jimbo as he deals with aging, his divorce, and disappointment. As he and his estranged wife Kelly divvy up their belongings and ultimately their memories, Jimbo is visited by his guardian angel, the ghost of dead rock star Kurt Cobain. Part dark comedy, part docudrama, this play shows how closely man emulates their heroes, and how in the void of depression, music serves an escape.

"If It's Not Right, You Have To Put It Right": The Play And Work Of Children In Matilda The Musical, Kristin Perkins 2018 Brigham Young University

"If It's Not Right, You Have To Put It Right": The Play And Work Of Children In Matilda The Musical, Kristin Perkins

AWE (A Woman’s Experience)

Perkins considers issues of subversive theatrical criticism and exploitative child labor as they combine in Matilda the Musical, examining the performances as a holistic, if ambivalent, production. In a play where the lead figure is a little girl, this essay uses the lens of gender and age to provide context for the revolutionary character of Matilda in a female-dominated play that critiques established norms, at the same time that the play is produced in, and by, a system that reproduces troubling power structures.
