This study examines Jompet Kuswidananto’s installation artworks as spaces that represent traumatic memory through bodily engagement and audience participation. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach informed by Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology and Claire Bishop’s perspective on participatory aesthetics. Data were collected through interviews with the artist and participants and through document analysis. The analysis focuses on two works, On Paradise #2 and Subterranean Thunder #1, selected for their relevance to traumatic memory, aesthetic experience, and audience participation. The findings show that both works construct experiences through relationships among objects, space, sound, light, and the audience’s body. Merleau-Ponty’s perspective demonstrates …

This study describes the development of Banyuwangi dance movements and the elements of posture, movement, rhythm, and tempo in Sasanjung, a dance choreographed by Ragiel Alfan at Kuwung Wetan Dance Studio in Banyuwangi Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with five informants: the choreographer, a dancer, the studio owner, a musician, and a local cultural expert. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Credibility was examined through triangulation across sources and data collection techniques. Basanan is a musical repertoire from Banyuwangi associated with the oral traditions of the Using community. This study aims to analyze the musical arrangement of Basanan performed by Jazz Patrol Kawitan Banyuwangi, focusing on melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, dynamics, and instrumentation. A qualitative descriptive-analytical approach was employed, using audiovisual performance recordings, musical transcriptions, interview data, and relevant literature. The analysis involved repeated observations, identification of musical elements, and interpretation of their relationships within the arrangement. The findings indicate that the arrangement employs pitch material associated with B-flat major, with an emphasis on G in certain melodic passages. Its harmonic treatment …

This study examines the user interface (UI) designs of Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves and explores Generation Z players' perceptions of their visual and functional characteristics. Employing a descriptive qualitative comparative approach, data were collected through direct game observation, interface documentation, semi-structured interviews, and open-ended questionnaires involving five Generation Z players domiciled on Java Island, Indonesia. The analysis focused on four interface components: the heads-up display, main menu, character menu, and inventory menu, evaluated using five design principles: clarity and simplicity, clear and concise language, consistency, visual hierarchy, and visual aesthetics. TikTok has become a digital communication space for promoting products while constructing representations of identity and gender. This study examines linguistic strategies in the representation of femininity in beauty product advertisements on TikTok Indonesia. It employs a qualitative descriptive method using Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis (Feminist CDA). The data consist of verbal elements from advertisements by Scarlett Whitening, Wardah Beauty, and Natur-E, analyzed in terms of lexical choices, grammatical structures, persuasive forms, and rhetorical strategies. This study examines the representation of environmental criticism in Fiersa Besari’s song “Alam Bukan Tempat Sampah” through Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic framework. It employs a descriptive qualitative method, using the complete song lyrics as its data source. Analysis involves reading the text, identifying signifiers, interpreting signifieds, grouping meanings, and developing interpretations within the context of the lyrics as a whole. The findings indicate that environmental criticism is constructed through word choices, semantic contrasts, metaphors, imperatives, and repetition. The lyrics criticize environmental neglect, the pursuit of wealth and power, and complaints or blame unaccompanied by corrective action. The metaphor “our home” …

This study examines objective and formal introversion as an analytical framework for understanding the visual organization of 12th–13th-century CE (6th–7th centuries AH) glazed ceramics from Bamiyan within the broader cultural context of medieval Khurasan. While previous scholarship has extensively addressed the typological, technical, and decorative characteristics of Khurasanian ceramics, comparatively less attention has been given to the structural principles governing their internal visual organization. Using an art-historical and visual-semiotic approach, the study analyzes five purposively selected vessels from a documented corpus of 15 objects. This study aims to describe patterns of Indonesian language errors produced by a Russian speaker in social media content on the @marielle.world account and to identify the factors contributing to these errors. This descriptive qualitative study examined five posts, comprising one Instagram post and four TikTok posts. Data were collected using non-participant observation and note-taking techniques and analyzed through a five-stage language error analysis procedure. The findings identified 68 instances of deviation, classified into two analytical categories. First, 28 non-native errors resulted from interference and incomplete mastery of Indonesian linguistic rules, predominantly phonological errors (22 instances), followed by the omission …

This study aimed to analyze learning needs, develop and validate a visual composition board game puzzle, and examine its effectiveness in improving students’ knowledge and learning engagement. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). As a part of its centennial advertising campaign, the Metropolitan Opera in New York commissioned the American figurative painter George Tooker (1920-2011) to create a fine art image inspired after Giuseppe Verdi’s 1859 opera, Un Ballo in Maschera. Within the artist's composition, themes around masquerading, skepticism, and surveillance arise, all of which are common threads within both Tooker’s and Verdi’s work. In 2016 Brianna Kirkham stepped onto the stage to give a performance titled, “if ‘This Is Not A Rape’ isn’t a rape, then what is it?” based on the performance art of Emma Sulkowicz’s “This Is Not A Rape” video. Of over 100 entrants, Brianna Kirkham was named national champion for her performance in the final round. Kirkham instructs the viewer to “watch kindly” when viewing Sulkowicz’s video.
