วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดการรำละครไทยตัวพระผู้หญิง โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจากเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์ การสังเกตการณ์ การทดลองและการสนทนากลุ่มย่อยประกอบกับประสบการณ์ของผู้วิจัยในการสอนรำไทยมากว่า 40 ปี สรุปผลการวิจัยด้วยรูปแบบพรรณนาวิเคราะห์ โดยศึกษาจากการฝึกทักษะเพลงช้าเพลงเร็ว(แบบเต็ม)และการสวมบทบาทเป็นตัวละคร(พระ)ในเรื่องอิเหนาของกรมศิลปากร ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ตัวพระผู้หญิงเริ่มเป็นตัวละครรำของหลวงในปลายสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาและรับแสดงได้ทั่วไปในรัชกาลที่ 4 แห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์เป็นต้นมาถึงปัจจุบัน สำหรับการฝึกผู้หญิงให้เป็นตัวละครพระนั้นความสำคัญอยู่ที่การจัดระเบียบร่างกายที่ใช้ในการรำ 8 ส่วน ได้แก่ ศีรษะ ไหล่ ลำตัว แขน มือ นิ้วมือ ขาและเท้าให้ได้ในแบบของตัวละครพระตั้งแต่การทรงตัวตรงโดยกำหนด 5 จุดสำคัญของร่างกายได้แก่ กลางหน้าผาก ระหว่างอก สะดือและหัวไหล่ทั้ง 2 ข้างให้อยู่แนวเดียวกัน หากอยู่ในท่าผสมเท้าไหล่ที่เอียงลงมาด้านข้างจะไม่เกินเข่าที่ยืน แต่หากเป็นการก้าวเท้าปลายไหล่ที่เอียงจะไม่เกินปลายเท้าที่ก้าวหรือที่ยืน ระดับมือสูงที่สุดอยู่ที่แง่ศีรษะส่วนระดับล่างสุดมือจะอยู่ด้านหลังประมาณสะโพกและหากมีการรวมมือเข้าหาลำตัวด้านหน้าต้องกันแขนให้มีช่องว่างระหว่างข้อศอกกับลำตัวอย่างน้อย 1 ฝ่ามือ ในการเคลื่อนไหวให้ร่างกายส่วนล่างตั้งแต่สะโพกลงไปต้องตั้งตรงและนิ่งไว้สามารถย่อให้เกิดเหลี่ยมมุมกว้างตรงเข่าและยืดตัวขึ้นได้โดยมีสามัญลักษณะเฉพาะของรำไทยคือการห่มตัวหรือที่เรียกว่า “ห่มเข่า” ทุกครั้งที่มีการเปลี่ยนท่ารำในขณะที่ร่างกายส่วนบนจะเอนไปทางขวาหรือซ้าย จากนั้นจึงเป็นการฝึกรำเพลงช้าและเพลงเร็ว ลา ซึ่งพบว่ามีองค์ความรู้ที่เป็นหลักการรำไทย 5 ประการ คือ 1.แบบท่าขององคาพยพในการรำ 2.รูปแบบโครงสร้างท่ารำหลักและท่ารำรอง 3.วิธีการเชื่อมท่ารำ 4.วิธีการเคลื่อนไหวอย่างรำไทยและ5.การใช้พลังในการรำไทย ขั้นต่อไปเป็นการฝึกรำตีบทเพื่อพัฒนาให้สามารถสวมบทบาทเป็นตัวละครพระในการแสดงละครรำประกอบด้วยทักษะการรำอย่างตัวพระผู้หญิงจากการรำเพลงช้าเพลงเร็วและวิธีการสวมบทบาทเป็นตัวละครด้วยการตีบทแบบมีและไม่มีเนื้อร้องในบทบรรยาย บทเจรจาและบทแสดงอารมณ์รวมถึงการใช้ใบหน้าร่วมกับท่ารำเพื่อสร้างอรรถรสในการชม แนวคิดการรำไทยนี้จึงนับเป็นรากฐานและคุณูปการแก่บุคลากรในงานวิทยาการและวิชาชีพศิลปะการแสดงในสังคมไทยได้อย่างยั่งยืน

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างสรรค์นาฏยศิลป์ไทยร่วมสมัยที่สะท้อนความรักของบุคคลที่มีความหลากหลายทางเพศเป็นวิจัยแบบผสมผสานประกอบด้วยการค้นคว้าเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์ การสังเกต และการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานนาฏยศิลป์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าปัจจุบันนอกจากการครองคู่กันระหว่างผู้ชายกับผู้หญิงยังปรากฏการครองคู่กันระหว่างบุคคลเพศเดียวกันซึ่งจัดอยู่ในความหลากหลายทางเพศ การครองรักกันระหว่างผู้ชายกับผู้ชายได้ถูกเปิดเผยให้เป็นที่รับรู้อย่างแพร่หลาย โดยเฉพาะสื่อความบันเทิงรูปแบบละครชุดหรือเรียกว่า “ซีรีส์วาย” ส่วนความเชื่อเรื่อง “ด้ายแดง” ที่กล่าวถึงผู้เฒ่าจันทราผู้กำหนดชะตาชีวิตใช้ด้ายแดงเชื่อมโยงดวงจิตของ 2 คนให้ผูกพันธ์และรักกัน แม้ทั้งคู่สิ้นชีวิตลงไปเกิดในภพภูมิใหม่ด้ายแดงนี้ก็ยังเชื่อมโยงให้ทั้งคู่กลับมารักและครองคู่กัน ในประเทศไทยได้มีการนำความเชื่อเรื่อง “ด้ายแดง” มาประพันธ์เป็นบทละครและสร้างขึ้นเป็น “ซีรีย์วาย” ผู้วิจัยได้นำข้อมูลการครองรักระหว่างผู้ชายกับผู้ชายและนำแรงบันดาลใจจากความเชื่อเรื่อง “ด้ายแดง” มาผนวกเข้าด้วยกันเพื่อสร้างสรรค์เป็นนาฏยศิลป์ไทยร่วมสมัยเรื่อง “ลิขิต” มีกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ประกอบด้วย 1) การสร้างแนวคิดเพื่อกำหนดขอบเขตเนื้อหาและรูปแบบการแสดง 2) การกำหนดโครงเรื่องโดยแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ช่วง 3) การกำหนดตัวละครและคัดเลือกนักแสดง 4) การออกแบบดนตรี 5) การออกแบบลีลาท่าทาง 6) การออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกาย 7) การเผยแพร่การแสดง การแสดงเรื่อง “ลิขิต” เป็นการเปิดมิติใหม่สำหรับการทำความเข้าใจประเด็นความหลากหลายทางเพศ โดยเฉพาะการครองคู่กันของบุคคลเพศเดียวกันผ่านกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ทางนาฏยศิลป์ เป็นหนึ่งในแนวทางการนำเสนอข้อมูลหรือความคิดอันเป็นนามธรรมให้กลายเป็นรูปธรรมที่สามารถสัมผัสรับรู้และเป็นที่เข้าใจได้

Contending with the loss of a parent to a mass shooting in their workplace, a newsroom, I find myself suspended in time, in an office. Post-its, fans, button-ups, snow globes, clipboards, reporters notebooks, scrap paper, jot downs, keyboards hold me up. I crave the comfort of repetitive cumulative hand work. Quilting, weaving, and cutting away help me breathe, haptically process and memorialize these grieving objects, this grieving person. Educators in academic theatre programs, whether queer or non-queer, trans or cisgender, may not intentionally consider queerness in their pedagogical practices. What follows is an examination of current issues in academia that can affect queer students negatively and disproportionately. Anecdotal evidence is provided to demonstrate different issues that may be present in the classroom experiences of queer students. The Stanislavski system is critiqued through a contemporary, queer lens to locate possible shortcomings in the acting technique when it is applied by queer performers. This thesis presents a learning from demonstration framework that enables a robot to learn and perform creative motions from human demonstrations in real-time. In order to satisfy all of the functional requirements for the framework, the developed technique is comprised of two modular components, which integrate together to provide the desired functionality. The first component, called Dancing from Demonstration (DfD), is a kinesthetic learning from demonstration technique. This dissertation explores the role of theater for peacebuilding in post-conflict settings through the analysis of experiences of participants in the Morning Star Forum Theater for Peacebuilding in South Sudan. Arts-based activities, including theater, have increasingly gained momentum as viable interventions for peacebuilding in post-conflict zones. Much of the existent research fails to capture the experiences of the theater participants themselves. Using narrative inquiry, this study interviewed 12 community members who participated in the Morning Star Forum Theater event. This thesis includes a plot summary, text analysis, and historical context. This thesis explores how social dancing in the United States formed a noteworthy aspect of political, diplomatic, social, and class exchange for U.S. elites both domestically and overseas; and how the cultural dominance over dance that France enjoyed during this period created an informal cultural diplomatic relationship between the United States and France in the 1780s and the 1790s. I argue that U.S. elites utilized this dance culture as a form of upper-class status legitimation that could serve diplomatic purposes. Undertaking the role of Scenic Designer of West Virginia University School of Theatre & Dance’s 2021 filmed production of King Lear by William Shakespeare was a formidable challenge. A detailed description of the entire scenic design process includes script analysis, research, design meetings, scenic art techniques, and the filming process. Dance students face many physical and psychological stressors in their training and daily lives, therefore methods for coping with stress are essential for performance enhancement and general wellbeing. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between mindfulness, stress, recovery, and wellbeing among university level vocational dance students. Seventy-two dance students at two Australian universities completed online self-report measures of mindfulness, recovery-stress states, and affect. Correlation coefficients indicated a significant positive relationship between mindfulness and positive affect, and significant negative relationships between mindfulness and stress, and mindfulness and negative affect. MANOVA revealed differences between high mindfulness and low mindfulness groups on …

In the postcolonial era, the land surrounding national borders—the borderland—has inherited a specific identity and relationship with those who navigate it. While national borderlands are oft discussed amid conversations on globalization, land disputes, and war, the Spanish colonization of the Americas in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries saw the new establishment of borderlands from within in the form of segregative boundaries that purported to separate Indigenous and European peoples.
