Over the past several weeks, the world of college sports has witnessed considerable turmoil and the prospect of major change. The future of the NCAA is in doubt, at least in its current form. The myth of the “student athlete” under the banner of amateurism is dead. The term should be laid to rest and never be seen in print again. It was a fabricated term created by former NCAA president, Walter Byers, designed to allow the NCAA to keep the money earned from intercollegiate athletics for itself, and out of the hands of the athletes.

We then show the beautiful images mentioned by Ibn Jubeir in describing each city of cities, nature, air, antiquities and social customs of its people uniquely, entering Manbij, Aleppo, Ma'rat al-Numan, Hama, Homs, Damascus, Tibnin, Banias, Mount Lebanon and Tyre.

This project is a study into extinct flowers, their histories, environments, biology, colors, and assigned personalities then manifested in 3D models and a digital book. The goal was to select six flowers with interesting histories and or cultural connections. Since the flowers can, for the most part, not be seen or kept they were created in Blender as accurately as possible. To give people a means of connection with the flowers, each was assigned a personality based on different factors. These factors could be the colors they possess, where geographically they thrived, parts of their history, and biological factors. To …

The Leaning Pine Arboretum, located on the campus of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, was founded in 1973 by a conglomerate of faculty of the horticultural sciences. The author sat with current and retired faculty to curate a written history based on oral interviews which investigated the development of the 5-acre garden across fifty years of volunteer work, student employees, class projects, and senior projects. The following thesis describes the life and activities of Jorge Ricardo Masetti, an Argentinian journalist who was assigned to interview Fidel Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution against dictator Fulgencio Batista. Masetti was responsible for broadcasting interviews with Fidel Castro and Ernesto “Che” Guevara to the rest of Latin America for the first time, allowing people to understand what was happening in Cuba through the words of the Revolution’s leaders. Masetti returned to Cuba to found the first international Latin American news agency, Prensa Latina, which still exists today. In post-war Germany in the 1950s my grandmother used to collect recipes from magazines, newspapers, and the backs of food packaging that she neatly cut out and saved. Other recipes were carefully copied with pen and ink. At some point, when my mother was still a child and my grandmother still alive, she and her sister compiled all these recipes and tidily pasted them into a black notebook for safekeeping. In Victorian England, cultural, industrial, technological, and financial flows led to two industries being subject to processes of professionalisation: catering and hospitality, and the independent press. As such, a new form of media emerged, the trade press, which catered for those working in the catering and hospitality industry. This press content documents not only the industry’s operations, but also the aspirations and attitudes of employees, their employers, and other key stakeholders. This allows for us to glimpse into past lifeworlds and extract forgotten memories. We are able to witness how ethnoscapes characterised the trade, but also led to integration conflicts. …

This paper explores the historical role women played in promoting, distributing, and establishing tea consumption in The Netherlands. Despite being the first nation to introduce tea to the Western world, and the abundance of literature and images documenting women as sapless tea drinkers, languishing their afternoons away, entertaining and sipping the amber brew in their tea houses, the latter is far from reality. Algeria is known for its revolutionary acts for freedom against French colonialism. The French ruled the religion after Algeria was handed over to them by the Ottoman Empire. The Empire had previously ruled the Algerian territory 400-500 years prior. Algerians were introduced to French rule, which drastically changed the social and political layout of the country. This paper looks at the two time periods of colonization in Algeria: from 1830-1930, as well as 1931-1962.
