Questioning the african uniqueness within the academic field of identity forces us to investigate the ability of Africans to find a way out of a painful aporia between an adulterated tradition and an overwhelming totalitarian modernity. The latter, in Africa more than anywhere else, constitutes an obstacle to individual emancipation. Thus it raises today like yesterday, the imperative of a dual liberation without which Africa will be unable to construct an identity taking into account both alterity and anteriority.

The purpose of this contribution is to gauge the originality, consistency and coherence of the approaches that underpin the specificity of Ambroise Kom’s intellectual trajectory. Thus, it questions the theoretical basis of this posture, by examining the articulation of his theoretical positions and his praxis. Drawing, among other benchmarks, on the experience of the Université des Montagnes in Cameroon, the study establishes that beyond the prevailing taxonomies, the academic escapes the fixity that would otherwise sever his deployment from a decisive part of his approach.

This text touches on various aspects of Ambroise Kom’s social engagement. It explores some pathways taken by Kom outside Literature, his core academic field, insisting on the most prominent threads in his career: Knowledge transmission and institutionalization in Cameroon while prioritising collective over individual action. It also highlights Kom’s interaction with a challenging political and cultural environment, the social praxis resulting from it and his writings on what should be the contribution of Education, especially, higher Education, to contribute to nation building in Cameroon.

This article has two main objectives: to show how Ambroise Kom raises the question of the legitimation of Knowledge in Francophone Africa and to present the way he proposes to the continent to overcome subalternity and theoretical extroversion in order to become its own center of production and legitimation of knowledge. The article also shows how Ambroise Kom, a cultural and literary critic, extends the tradition of African philosophers, mainly Mudimbe, Hountondji and Laleye, who, from 1970, put the issue of decolonization of the African discourse in the center of their work.

This essay will examine the reception of Rutu Modan’s international-award-winning graphic novel Exit Wounds (2007) in the massive cultural centers of the United States and France by situating its success within the inter/transnational dynamics of the contemporary comics market, or what James English would term an “economy of prestige.” My essay reconsiders Exit Wounds beyond its popular status as an international phenomenon—that is, one that crosses national borders but which maintains distinctions between those nations it enters and its home state—by considering it a transnational work—one which blurs the lines between nation-states in its form, function, and reception. The purpose of this research is to assess the deficiencies of the Senegalese education system and to evaluate improvements to the system so that it works for the Senegalese, instead of against them. My research is mostly concerned with the process in which the French language is taught in schools. La tragédie humaniste du XVIᵉ siècle se distingue par la présence d'un chœur, héritage de la tragédie antique, et par la volonté de rompre avec les représentations allégoriques médiévales. Cette caractérisation semble pourtant paradoxale dans la mesure où le chœur semble lui-même être un personnage allégorique. Dans Cléopâtre captive d'Etienne Jodelle, première tragédie antique écrite en français, le chœur se démarque des allégories dramaturgiques médiévales. Il demeure un personnage à part qui, bien que reprenant certaines figures allégoriques dans son discours, intériorise ses sentiments. Drawing on notions of secularization as a phenomenon of ambivalence or dualism in which religion continues to exist alongside secularity in exerting influence on modern French thought, author Scott M. The purpose of this article is to begin drawing attention to the strong likelihood that Freud’s Totem and Taboo (1913) contributed important ideas to the creation of La Promesse (1996) by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. In the current article, we take note of just two of its most important aspects: animism, and the childlike recurrence of totemism. In La Promesse, these concepts are elaborated in relationship to a small African statue present in the home of the West African illegal immigrants, Assita and Hamidou. The sculpture …
