การประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางของกลุ่มนักเขียนเจเนอเรชั่นวายในบันทึกการเดินทางท่องเที่ยวร่วมสมัยของไทย, อรสุธี ชัยทองศรี

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ศึกษาการประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางของกลุ่มนักเขียนเจเนอเรชั่นวายในบันทึกการเดินทางท่องเที่ยวร่วมสมัยของไทย ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่ากลุ่มนักเขียนเจเนอเรชั่นวายซึ่งเกิดระหว่างพ.ศ.2523 – 2543 ได้ใช้บันทึกการเดินทางท่องเที่ยวร่วมสมัยในการประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางผ่านองค์ประกอบของหนังสือบันทึกการเดินทาง ได้แก่ ยานพาหนะ ที่พัก และสถานที่ ทั้งนี้ อัตลักษณ์ที่ประกอบสร้างขึ้นเป็นผลมาจากวาทกรรมจำนวนมากที่ไหลเวียนอยู่ในสังคม ทั้งวาทกรรมที่ผูกติดกับงานเขียนประเภทนี้มาแต่เดิม และวาทกรรมที่สัมพันธ์กับบริบทสังคมปัจจุบันที่คนเจเนอเรชั่นวายเติบโตขึ้น การประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์ดังกล่าวเป็นไปเพื่อให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบวิถีชีวิตและรสนิยมที่เหนือกว่า อันเป็นผลมาจากความสามารถในการระดมทุนประเภทต่าง ๆ ที่คนเจเนอเรชั่นวายได้รับถ่ายทอดและปลูกฝังมาตั้งแต่เยาว์วัย ทำให้พวกเขามีศักยภาพที่เหนือกว่าในสนามการเดินทาง นอกจากนี้ การเดินทางและการประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางยังเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกระบวนการของการสั่งสมและนำมาซึ่งการแลกเปลี่ยนทุนที่ช่วยธำรงตำแหน่งแห่งที่ของพวกเขาในโครงสร้างทางสังคมเอาไว้นอกจากนี้ นักเขียนเจเนอเรชั่นวายยังได้ใช้สื่อสังคมออนไลน์เพื่อนำเสนอประสบการณ์การเดินทางด้วย โดยสื่อสังคมออนไลน์นี้ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบและวิธีการนำเสนอประสบการณ์การเดินทางที่แตกต่างจากสื่อดั้งเดิม ได้แก่ ประสบการณ์การเดินทางจากวัฒนธรรมการมีส่วนร่วมระหว่างนักเขียนและผู้ติดตาม และการนำเสนอประสบการณ์ผ่านภาพซึ่งใช้การดูอันเป็นวิถีของการเสพสื่อใหม่ที่เข้ามาแทนที่การอ่าน อนึ่ง วัฒนธรรมการมีส่วนร่วมดังกล่าวยังทำให้นักเขียนต้องตอบสนองความต้องการของผู้ติดตามด้วยการปรับเปลี่ยนอัตลักษณ์ไปตามบริบทแวดล้อมรวมถึงเมื่อได้รับการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์เพื่อรักษาการมีส่วนร่วมบนสื่อสังคมออนไลน์เอาไว้ เนื่องจากปัจจุบันจำนวนผู้ติดตามและปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่เกิดขึ้นบนสื่อประเภทนี้นับเป็นทุนอีกลักษณะหนึ่งที่แปลงไปเป็นทุนประเภทอื่นได้ ปัจจัยดังกล่าวทำให้นักเขียนบันทึกการเดินทางบนสื่อสังคมออนไลน์กลายเป็นอินฟลูเอนเซอร์ที่ต้องรักษาสถานภาพของตนด้วยการปรับปรุงอัตลักษณ์ตามความคาดหวังของผู้ชมในฐานะผู้บริโภค อย่างไรก็ดี อัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางที่ปรากฏบนสื่อเหล่านี้อาจไม่ได้เป็นอัตลักษณ์ของปัจเจกบุคคล เนื่องจากการเป็นอินฟลูเอนเซอร์เป็นผลจากกระบวนการทำงานร่วมกันของหลายฝ่ายที่ผลิตและประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์นักเดินทางขึ้นเพื่อเป็นสินค้าประเภทหนึ่งในระบบทุนนิยมปัจจุบัน

กลวิธีการแปลคำที่เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพ : กรณีศึกษาภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ร่างทรง, พิมพ์ศุภางค์ เมตไตรพันธ์

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาแนวโน้มการเลือกใช้กลวิธีการแปลเพื่อถ่ายทอดความหมายของคำและวลีในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพภาษาอังกฤษ เฉพาะส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติของไทยที่ปรากฏในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ร่างทรง จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 52 คำ โดยมีสมมติฐานการวิจัยว่าในการแปลเพื่อถ่ายทอดความคำและวลีที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติของไทยจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพภาษาอังกฤษของภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ร่างทรง นั้น ผู้แปลมีแนวโน้มจะเลือกใช้กลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งที่สุด จากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทั้งหมด ผู้วิจัยพบว่าผู้แปลมีการเลือกใช้กลวิธีการแปลคำทั้งในระดับคำและระดับประโยค ในระดับคำ ผู้แปลเลือกใช้กลวิธีทั้งหมด 55 ครั้ง โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการปรับความหนาแน่น 15 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 27.27) การคัดลอกคำด้วยการถ่ายทอดในระดับคำ 15 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 27.27) การเทียบทางวัฒนธรรม 16 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 29.09) การคัดลอกคำด้วยการถ่ายทอดในระดับสัทศาสตร์ 7 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 12.73) และไม่พบการแปล 2 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 3.64) จะเห็นได้ว่าผู้แปลเลือกใช้กลวิธีในระดับคำในจำนวนที่ใกล้เคียงกัน โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งที่สุด ในระดับประโยค ผู้เลือกใช้กลวิธีทั้งหมด 14 ครั้ง โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการปรับมุมมอง 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) การจัดเรียงใหม่ 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) การปรับเปลี่ยนตัวบท 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) และการทดแทน 2 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 14.29) จากการศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยพบว่าผู้แปลมีแนวโน้มที่จะเลือกกลวิธีการเทียบเคียงทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งมากที่สุดในการแปลคำและวลีทางด้านวัฒนธรรมในส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติเพื่อให้ตัวบทฉบับแปลถ่ายทอดความหมายได้สอดคล้องกับวัฒนธรรมปลายทางซึ่งจะทำให้ผู้รับสารฉบับปลายทางเชื่อมโยงได้โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องอธิบายเพิ่มเติม ทำให้บทบรรยายใต้ภาพมีลักษณะเป็นไปตามข้อจำกัดของบทบรรยายใต้ภาพทั้งในด้านพื้นที่และด้านเวลา ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีลักษณะสอดคล้องกับผลของงานวิจัยเรื่องการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรมในส่วนที่ศึกษาเกี่ยวกับกลวิธีการแปลข้ามวัฒนธรรมในการแปลสื่อโสตทัศน์ ที่มีผลลัพธ์ว่ากลวิธีที่เน้นไปทางความเข้าใจของผู้รับสารฉบับปลายทาง โดยกลวิธีที่พบบ่อยครั้งมากที่สุดคือกลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมเช่นเดียวกัน

Analyzing the language of a 1699 matelotage contract and locating that same terminology in Shakespeare’s maritime plays, this essay argues that there is a thematic and genealogical link between the contractual forms of homosocial union that existed during the premodern and early modern periods and the bonds shared by male characters in those plays where a “sea change” occurs. First, the essay delineates a history of matelotage and of contractual bonds; then, it establishes this homosocial dynamic as an additional point of inquiry for male relationships in Shakespeare. This essay analyzes the novel Danube by the Italian writer and scholar Claudio Magris and focuses on its depiction of the political potential inscribed in the Danubian territory. With his journey along the river, the narrator of the novel attempts to unveil the materiality of this territory and the agency of the river, thus deconstructing cultural and political claims aimed at their appropriation. First, the essay investigates the use and representation of 'sources' made by the narrator, both as origin of the river and cultural artifacts. Vietnam during French colonialism (1861-1945) was a site of hybrid enunciations that displayed tensions with multiple languages (Chinese, Vietnamese, French) and multiple scripts (classical Chinese, Nôm script, Quốc Ngữ, and French) while existing under the influence of various powers (the Nguyễn feudal dynasty, the French colonial government, and the nascent Democratic Republic of Vietnam). The array of choices reflected a state of confusion in which every decision made by Vietnamese translators was inherently political. This eccentric hybridity is well exemplified in translations by Phạm Quỳnh 范瓊 (1892-1945), a late Nguyễn dynasty monarchist and early French colonial collaborator.

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาขนบในการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ไทยแนวตลก (Comedy Movies) ในช่วงพ.ศ. 2543-2553 และในช่วงพ.ศ. 2554-2565 เพื่อค้นหาว่าในยุคหลังการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ไทยแนวตลกมีขนบการแปลอย่างไร และสาเหตุของการเปลี่ยนแปลงดังกล่าวคืออะไร นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยยังต้องการศึกษาว่าประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์นั้นจะมีผลต่อขนบในการแปลภาพยนตร์หรือไม่ โดยผู้วิจัยได้คัดเลือกชื่อภาพยนตร์แนวตลกทั้งหมด จำนวน 250 รายชื่อ และได้จำแนกประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์ในทั้งสองช่วงเวลาออกเป็น 5 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ภาพยนตร์ตลก ภาพยนตร์ตลกโรแมนติก ภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ ภาพยนตร์ตลกแอ็คชั่น และภาพยนตร์ตลกดราม่า จากการศึกษาผู้วิจัยพบว่า ในยุคแรก กลวิธีการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ที่นิยมมากที่สุด ได้แก่ การแปลความ รองลงมาคือการตั้งชื่อใหม่ และการทับศัพท์ตามลำดับ ในขณะที่ช่วงยุคหลังนั้น กลวิธีการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ที่นิยมมากที่สุด ได้แก่ การทับศัพท์ การตั้งชื่อใหม่ และการแปลความ เมื่อเปรียบเทียบขนบการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ในสองช่วงเวลาตามประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์ พบว่ากลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลโดยเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบตั้งชื่อใหม่ และกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลกแอ็คชั่น ภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ และภาพยนตร์ตลกดราม่า โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลความ ทั้งนี้การใช้กลวิธีการแปลความและการตั้งชื่อใหม่อาจทำให้ ผู้ชมเข้าใจเนื้อหาสำคัญของภาพยนตร์และอาจทำให้ผู้ชมตัดสินใจชมภาพยนตร์ สำหรับกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลแบบเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมต้นทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลก และภาพยนตร์ตลกโรแมนติก โดยสะท้อนผ่านกลวิธีการแปลแบบทับศัพท์ ซึ่งการทับศัพท์เป็นการรักษาชื่อในภาษาต้นทาง แต่ในบางกรณีชื่อในต้นทางก็เป็นการทับศัพท์คำภาษาอังกฤษ ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้ผู้ชมในวัฒนธรรมปลายทางเกิดความเข้าใจและสนใจที่จะชมภาพยนตร์ดังกล่าว

From Heldris De Cornwall’S Le Roman De Silence To Gian Francesco Straparola’S Le Piacevoli Notti. New Insights Into A Significant Reception Process Across Centuries, Languages, And Genres, Albrecht Classen

Although we assume that the thirteenth-century Anglo-Norman romance Roman de Silence by Heldris de Cornwall experienced no reception at all apart from one manuscript containing the text, there is a considerable likelihood that the sixteenth-century Venetian author Gian Francesco Straparola somehow gained access to the medieval text and adapted it for one of the stories contained in his famous collection, Le Piacevoli Notti (1550 and 1553). Even though we cannot yet determine the exact process of reception, the strong similarities between both works go far beyond global archetypal themes. A shift towards integrating students into faculty-led research is essential, as demonstrated by the Coronado Muster Roll project. In this project, students use virtual reality technologies to create immersive experiences that explore the complex relationships between Spanish and Indigenous communities during Francisco Vázquez de Coronado’s 1540 expedition. Celebrated authors of the 19th century, Herman Melville and Charles Dickens are frequently critiqued within specifically national parameters, regarded as authors whose literary concerns reflect their respective countries and cultures. From that premise, there seems little if any connective thread to link Bleak House, the quintessential "stay-at-home" novel, and Moby-Dick, the epic, sea-faring adventure spanning nearly the entire globe. However, certain parallels between these novels in both form and content prove quite striking and reveal a transatlantic connection worthy of sustained critical attention. วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการตั้งคำถามกับขนบด้านเพศสถานะของบันเทิงคดีแนวสืบสวนสอบสวนผ่านการนำเสนอตัวละครนักสืบชายในอาชญนิยาย ชุด โฮล์มส์ แอนด์ มอริอาริตี (Holmes & Moriarity) ของจอช แลนยอน (Josh Lanyon, 2009-2018) ประกอบด้วยอาชญนิยายทั้งหมด 4 เล่ม ได้แก่ ซัมบอดี คิลด์ ฮิส เอดิเตอร์ (Somebody Killed His Editor, 2009), ออล ชี โรต (All She Wrote, 2010), เดอะ บอย วิธ เดอะ เพนฟูล แทตทู (The Boy with the Painful Tattoo, 2014), และ อิน ออเธอร์ เวิร์ดส์...เมอร์เดอร์ (In Other Words...Murder, 2018)จากการศึกษาพบว่าแนวคิดด้านเพศสถานะและบรรทัดฐานรักต่างเพศมีอิทธิพลต่อขนบการนำเสนอของบันเทิงคดีแนวสืบสวนสอบสวนเป็นอย่างมาก ตัวบทคัดสรรตั้งคำถามกับขนบด้านเพศสถานะและอคติทางเพศในบันเทิงคดีแนวสืบสวนยุคแรกด้วยการนำเสนอนักสืบชายที่ไม่จำเป็นต้องเป็นวีรบุรษและมีภาพลักษณ์ความเป็นชายตามอุดมคติของสังคมแต่ก็สามารถปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในฐานะนักสืบได้ ตัวบทคัดสรรนำเสนอตัวละครนักสืบชายผ่านบทบาทการตกเป็นเหยื่อและเป็นผู้ต้องสงสัย ตัวละครนักสืบยังสามารถเปิดเผยอัตลักษณ์ทางเพศและคบหาดูใจกับคู่รักเพศเดียวกันไปพร้อมกับการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในฐานะนักสืบได้ด้วย บทบาทและภาพลักษณ์ของตัวละครนักสืบชายที่หลากหลายสะท้อนให้เห็นพัฒนาการของบันเทิงคดีแนวสืบสวนสอบสวนร่วมสมัยที่ตัวละครนักสืบชายถูกนำเสนอให้มีความเป็นมนุษย์มากขึ้น นักสืบไม่จำเป็นต้องเข้มแข็ง แต่สามารถเปิดเผยอารมณ์ความรู้สึกที่อ่อนไหวและอ่อนแอได้อย่างไรก็ดี แม้ตัวบทคัดสรรจะพยายามนำเสนอตัวละครนักสืบชายที่ปฏิเสธการอยู่ภายใต้ค่านิยมของสังคมกระแสหลัก แต่นักสืบชายที่เลือกสร้างครอบครัวคู่รักเพศเดียวกันด้วยการแต่งงานและการอุปการะบุตรไม่อาจก้าวพ้นจากบรรทัดฐานรักต่างเพศและค่านิยมของสังคมกระแสหลักได้อย่างเด็ดขาด ท้ายที่สุดแล้วอาชญนิยาย ชุด โฮล์มส์ แอนด์ มอริอาริตี จึงสูญเสียโอกาสที่จะตอบโต้ค่านิยมแบบรักต่างเพศไป การนำเสนอดังกล่าวจึงเป็นการหวนคืนสู่บรรทัดฐานรักต่างเพศ เพราะสังคมยังคงให้ความสำคัญกับการสร้างครอบครัวในอุดมคติดังเดิม
