How Librarians Can Help Improve Law Journal Publishing, Benjamin J. Keele, Michelle Pearse

Library Staff Publications

Librarians are well positioned to improve law journal publishing and help it evolve in the ever-changing digital environment. They can provide student editors with advice on a variety of issues such as copyright, data preservation, and version control. Librarians can also help journals adopt technical standards and improve the discoverability and usability of journal content. While few libraries will be able to adopt all these suggestions, a checklist of ideas is provided to help librarians select those that are most suitable to their libraries and journals.

The Importance Of Search As Intertextual Practice For Undergraduate Research, Brett B. Bodemer

Library Scholarship

By first reassessing the role of search in the literacy event of the lower division undergraduate paper, this article argues that searching is not a lower order mental activity but a concurrent, integral component of the research-writing process. Announcement: The Indians Of The Northern And Southern Districts Of North America: Levenshtein Comparisons Of The Tribe Lists From The 1764 ‘Plan For The Future Management Of Indian Affairs.’, Charles D. Bernholz, Brian T. O'Grady

UNL Libraries: Faculty Publications

The Northern and Southern Districts of the British government in America contained tribes of Indians that were specifically enumerated prior to the preparation of the 1764 Plan for the future management of Indian affairs. That Board of Trade policy reassigned the responsibility for Indian affairs to the imperial government, rather than leaving it to be mediated by the individual colonies. Fourteen variants of those lists, from official and public sources, were compared with Levenshtein’s edit distance algorithm to assess similarity and provenance. Table I and Table II (Excel spreadsheets) are attached (below).
