Making it easier to interpret, analyze, and visualize the information provided within Google Universal Analytics. The main purpose of the study was to determine the status of information and communication technology (ICT) in academic libraries in polytechnics in Ghana. The study utilized an e-mail survey of ten (10) polytechnic librarians with the use of structured questionnaires of open and close ended questions. The respondents were purposively selected. The findings were analyzed using SPSS software and presented by use of descriptive statistics. The study found that majority of the respondents does not have adequate ICT facilities in the polytechnic libraries, and therefore cannot support modern academic library services. This study presents the results of a survey on the use of electronic journals (e-journals) subscribed through the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries In Ghana (CARLGH) among lecturers and faculty members in Kumasi Polytechnic in Ghana. A questionnaire was designed to gather information on the level of awareness, usage, impact and challenges encountered by users of e-journals and the way forward. Questionnaires were distributed to lecturers and faculty members at a training workshop. Data gathered were analyzed and presented in statistical data in the form of tables, graphs and charts.

The iSquare Research Program is an arts-informed, visual study of the concept of information, utilizing the draw-and-write technique (Pridmore & Bendelow, 1995). Participants are asked to respond to the question, “What is information?” by drawing upon a 4” by 4” piece of paper, coined an “iSquare.” The ongoing research program explores three questions: 1.) How do people visualize the concept of information?; 2.) How do visual conceptions of information differ among populations?; and 3.) Informetrics and information retrieval (IR) represent fundamental areas of study within information science. Historically, researchers have not fully capitalized on the potential research synergies that exist between these two areas. Data sources used in traditional informetrics studies have their analogues in IR, with similar types of empirical regularities found in IR system content and use. Methods for data collection and analysis used in informetrics can help to inform IR system development and evaluation. This article reports on the current state of health disclaimers, online health resources, and credibility markers provided on public library websites (N = 105) for those seeking health information. In light of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), these findings have implications for consumer health reference services in public libraries. Approximately half of the public library websites in the study sample (n = 52, 49.5%) referred users to the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace website (HealthCare.gov). In higher education’s environment of accountability, the development and assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs) are driven by both external stakeholder requirements for accreditation and internal institutional pressures to demonstrate student learning as the core function of universities and colleges. This paper presents a framework to reduce faculty workload and increase standardization of SLOs for LIS electives across multiple schools. The framework includes a value-added assessment with results that show a significant increase in the overall scores and specifically in areas of focus for the elective. In fall 2013, librarians at Syracuse University and Cornell University surveyed STEM faculty to learn about their experiences with, and perceptions of, open access publishing and the author fees that may accompany that model. The results showed little experience with open access author fees but strong opinions about the open access model. This poster will highlight the cautious optimism found in the results along with suggestions for librarians to further faculty understanding of and participation in open access publishing.

Librarians in America and Europe find that social scientists rely heavily on journal articles, specialized data, and feedback from colleagues in directing their research. This project uses 21 ethnographic interviews with librarians, students, and faculty at “Atameken University” in post-Soviet Kazakhstan to explore how social scientists adjust such research habits to a context of distant information sources and limited access. By developing technological adaptations to the local context, expatriate scholars can surmount most barriers to access—and yet librarians are then less able to effectively support research. This study seeks to clarify research trends related to marketing in the field of information disciplines from Latin American scientific production. As a reference source, we used the electronic journals indexed in the Latindex Directory. Some bibliometric indicators were applied to 108 documents; these indicators were as follows: productivity by year, journals, authors, language, and finally term cooccurrence analysis. It was evident that the highest rate of productivity was found in Brazilian journals and authors, and in the Portuguese language. Objective: perform a bibliometric characterization of Cuban research on information literacy (INFOLIT) based on the literature published from 2000 to 2013. Methods: substantiation was provided for conceptual notions about INFOLIT in the field of library and information sciences, and some interesting research antecedents were explored. Sixty-seven papers identified by the Ibero-America-Cuba INFOLIT Wiki-Repository were examined with the bibliometric indicators yearly productivity, authors, journals and term co-occurrence analysis, as well as type of documents cited, and most commonly cited journals and authors.
