The Religious Program Of The Liberal Arts College, Milo A. Rediger

Milo Rediger Writings & Addresses

It was not indicated whether I was expected to describe it as it is, define it as it ought to be, discuss its function, or attempt to outline its content. This gives me a wide range and a great deal of freedom, and this is consistent with both the religious and the liberal arts phases of the title. I shall try to establish a frame of reference in an introductory way and then discuss three or four aspects of the subject which my combine something of description, definition, function and content.

In relation to a student's use of class "cuts" and a teacher's attitude toward them, both are really "on their honor." The policy statement which appears in both the catalog and the student handbook sets forth principles which represent the intention and the spirit of the regulations.

When Are We Spiritual Enough?, Milo A. Rediger

Milo Rediger Writings & Addresses

When are human beings as spiritual as they ought to be? Well, of course, we are fundamentally spiritual in our very constitution and nature. This suggests that spiritual considerations are extremely important to us functionally -- in our attitudes, our contacts, our relationships. The absence of sensitivity to this dimension of life is one of the serious deficiencies of our time.

Why Not Say "A"?, Milo A. Rediger 2020 Taylor University

Why Not Say "A"?, Milo A. Rediger

Milo Rediger Writings & Addresses

Clear thinking is hard work, especially when you go out into the world where the dust of commerce and confusion never settles. It is important, though not easy, to see clearly what are the issues and to determine courses of action relative to them.

Positive, thoughtful and dedicated living in Christ's way is the answer for our time. To be sure, this is different from the thinking of the secular world, but it appeals to, and challenges, the best blood and brains. It is now yours to apply what you have learned and to continue the education that was started …

Secondary Student Perceptions Of School Climate Elements And Self-Reported Academic Self-Efficacy As Factors Of School Continuous Improvement, Marianne Arzadon Torales 2020 University of Texas at El Paso

Secondary Student Perceptions Of School Climate Elements And Self-Reported Academic Self-Efficacy As Factors Of School Continuous Improvement, Marianne Arzadon Torales

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

State and national agencies recognize the link between school quality and student academic and behavioral outcomes. Research has shown that a positive school climate and high academic self-efficacy are associated with positive academic and behavioral student outcomes. Determining the school climate factors that contribute to academic self-efficacy will add to the limited research on the relationship between these two constructs and provide information to prospective and current school leaders in cultivating an effective school.

A multiple regression was used to determine how student-perceived school climate factors predict self-reported student academic self-efficacy and of these factors, which one provided the strongest …

Instructional Design Leadership And Management Competencies: Job Description Analysis, Joel Gardner, Lewis Chongwony, Amie Tope

All Faculty and Staff Scholarship

Researchers in the field of instructional design and educational technology journals usually focus on the practice of instructional design; however, the management and leadership of instructional design has typically received little emphasis. Recent studies have investigated the competencies associated with effective leadership and management of instructional design from the perspective of those they lead, and from the perspective of leaders in higher education. There is, however, little systematic research into what competencies employers require of leaders and managers of instructional designers in higher education. This research would provide the field with further guidance on training and preparing instructional design leaders …

The purpose of this study was to examine the sustainability of truancy programs used in all 55 counties of West Virginia since 2014. The study compared attendance rates at the elementary school level over the last five years and applied survey and interview data to determine whether changes to programs promoted changes to attendance rates. In this study data were collected from the West Virginia Department of Education …

Consequences For Public School Truancy And Whether They Affect Student Attendance In West Virginia Counties: A Comprehensive Study, Matthew Jacob Messer 2020 Marshall University

Consequences For Public School Truancy And Whether They Affect Student Attendance In West Virginia Counties: A Comprehensive Study, Matthew Jacob Messer

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Compulsory attendance for school-aged children began in Massachusetts in 1852 and spread to every state in America by 1918. More than 100 years later, educators and other stakeholders continue to struggle to get many students to attend school on a consistent basis and at the desired rate. Failure to do so has significant short- and long-term effects for those students, their schools, their communities, and their future families. There are two types of problematic student attendance: truancy and chronic absenteeism. Truancy counts only unexcused absences and focuses on judicial implications; chronic absenteeism, on the other hand, counts all absences and …

The purpose of this descriptive study was to explore the relationship between the presence of orientation programs for adjunct faculty at West Virginia community and technical colleges and mid-level administrators’ perceptions of adjunct faculty quality. Using data obtained through an Internet-based questionnaire administered to 91 mid-level administrators at West Virginia community and technical colleges, the study resulted in several notable findings, many of which reinforced similar findings uncovered in the review of the literature. Most researchers agree that the results of high-quality orientation programs can be a tremendous asset to adjunct faculty, leading to an adjunct group that knows what …

Learning Transfer: The Missing Linkage To Effective Professional Development, Corinne Brion 2020 University of Dayton

Learning Transfer: The Missing Linkage To Effective Professional Development, Corinne Brion

Educational Leadership Faculty Publications

Professional development is an important element in improving teachers and leaders’ skills and abilities that will impact student academic achievement (Koonce, Pijanowski, Bengston & Lasater, 2019; Reeves, 2010). Too often, budgets are spent on professional development that yield little results (Speck & Knipe, 2005). Each district has its own focus for professional development depending on the needs of the school communities, the latest standardized test results, and the most recent policies. Despite the millions of dollars spent on professional development nationally, student learning outcomes continue to be stagnate or dwindle, discipline issues continue to skyrocket, and teacher moral plummets. This …

Graduate Research Theses & Dissertations

It is estimated that 70% of all newly created jobs in Illinois by 2020 will need education beyond a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. The final finding indicated …
