The 15th anniversary of the Budapest Open Access Initiative provided an excellent opportunity to take stock of global progress toward open access and to gauge the main obstacles still remaining to the widespread adoption of open access policies and practices. As part of this process, feedback was solicited through an open survey that was disseminated online, and that received responses from individuals in 60 countries around the world.

Librarians at the University of North Dakota (UND) are implementing scholarly communication initiatives in partnership with faculty and other campus groups to bring about a greater awareness and understanding of related topics, including: open access, open educational resources, researcher IDs and communities, metrics and altmetrics, journal quality indicators, data management, copyright and author’s rights, and publishing strategies. At UND, there is a campus-wide effort for colleges to identify the top high quality journals in their fields or disciplines, and to track faculty scholarly publishing/research outputs for heightened research visibility and impact. This article explores the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy’s frame, Scholarship as a Conversation. This frame asserts that information literate students have the disposition, skills, and knowledge to recognize and participate in disciplinary scholarly conversations. By investigating the peer-review process as part of scholarly conversations, this article provides a brief literature review on peer review in information literacy instruction, and argues that by using open peer review (OPR) models for teaching, library workers can allow students to gain a deeper understanding of scholarly conversations. This study sought to determine the psychosocial consequences of intensive internet use on the basis on gender, age, level of study and marital status (University of Ilorin and AL-HIKMAH University) universities within Ilorin metropolis. Scholars have unprecedented access to subscription and open access (OA) content, yet figuring out how to discover and access legitimate versions of articles remains an aggravating experience for many researchers. They face authentication hoops, myriad vendor platforms with uncertain holdings, and mystifying an obscure OA source. Researchers that start with Google Scholar may bypass library authentication and face paywalls. Conversely, library discovery tools fail to expose and deliver much of the available OA content, and especially under-represent Green OA from repositories. As the availability of open access (OA) copies continues to grow, platforms and libraries are increasingly facing the possibility of linking users to version of record copies as well as to OA but non-version of record copies of the same article. Some advocate prioritizing linking to OA copies while others argue that the version of record should be prioritized. Book banning or challenging is a complex issue, in which a person takes issue with a book in the library‟s collection, complains to the librarian, and sometimes demands that the book be removed from the collection entirely. Books for young adult audiences are especially at risk, and the reasons why these books are challenged or banned are numerous. By reading fifteen different young adult books from between the years of 1990 and 2016, the researchers performed a content analysis to look at the reasons why books may be challenged or banned. 2017 will be remembered as a significant year in the development of our community. We started the year as the Hydra Project with a governance structure largely defined in the founding Memorandum of Understanding, signed in 2012, and ended it as the Samvera Community with an improved governance structure under active discussion. On the technical side, we saw two major community software gems, Sufia and Curation Concerns, come together as Hyrax, and we saw some significant outputs from a number of our Working and Interest Groups. The quality of teaching, research and community service of lecturers coupled with their publication in any university system depend on the quality of the electronic database they use. This study therefore, investigated the knowledge of electronic databases as predictors of research productivity of academic staff in private universities in South-west, Nigeria.

The descriptive survey research design of the correlational type was adopted. A total of 1656 academic staff in in the 21 private universities were sampled.
