This paper presents the concept of the living archive as a system which reflects how social behavior and cultural production are part of the Anthropocene. The authors explore how dominant narratives of both the Anthropocene and the archive work to consolidate power and maintain cultural and disciplinary divisions. The authors refute conceptions of the Anthropocene as a purely biophysical phenomenon that is alienated from cultural practice and of the archive as a comprehensive and nostalgic space. The present study is an evaluation of authorship and collaboration pattern in SRELS Journal of Information Management during 2008-2017. Total 578 articles published during the study period out of which 196 articles are published by single author and rest 386 articles are published by two or more than two authors. It is clear from the study that multiple authorship pattern is prominent in the journal. In the study it has been counted that the average collaboration index is 1.86, average collaboration coefficient is 0.36, average degree of collaboration is 0.66, average relative growth rate is 0.32 and average doubling time …

Textbook affordability is becoming a bigger and bigger problem for students. Access to textbooks is essential for students to be able to meet their learning needs and have equal opportunity to excel as their peers. Open Textbooks are one response to this issue, but while most library outreach is focused on faculty members, students are an underutilized voice in the open education conversation. This presentation aims to educate students on what open textbooks are, what their limitations are, and how all students can participate in advocating for more affordable course materials.

Food Waste Legislation Scholarship: A Mapping Study, Angela Hackstadt

The purpose of this study is to examine research activity on food waste legislation published in law journals to identify top sources and experts cited by recent scholarship. Searches for "food loss" and "food waste" were conducted in three legal research databases for law journal articles published between January 2013 and January 2018. The core list of selected articles consists of 13 law journal articles. The citations from each of the core articles were collected to form a database, which was analyzed to determine what kinds of resources legal scholars rely on when conducting research in food waste legislation. Creating workflows that involve the work of multiple departments within a large organization can be challenging, especially when the procedures are complex and involve a number of stakeholders. This paper describes and evaluates the redesign of an interdepartmental workflow for the dissemination of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) at a mid-sized academic library. The paper outlines the collaborative planning process within the library as well as the eventual outreach to additional stakeholders on campus, addressing the challenges of tackling such communication between the library and other ETD stakeholders. In 2015, The Claremont Colleges Library purchased a drone for its Emerging Technology Loan program. At the time, Federal Aviation Administration regulations were still in their infancy in regards to drone use in public and for teaching and research –lending wasn’t even a consideration. This study focuses on faculty knowledge, experiences, and attitudes regarding fraudulent journal operations. Many definitions presented to researchers contain two primary aspects to describe these intentional perpetra­tors: 1) the chief motivation to profit monetarily, and 2) the misleading promise of and failure to deliver on indicators of quality, such as peer review. While this definition is simple on its surface, when put into practice it often expands into discussions of poor or unethical practices by journal publishers. Within the discipline of library science, there are two themes that speak to both the philosophy of librarianship and that intersect with biblical teaching. These are “documentality” and “information literacy.” Both themes within the librarianship context emerge from and speak to the metanarratives of contemporary culture, particularly as they pertain to higher education. Documentality embraces the social values and practices underpinning the reification and commodification of human communication, from the mind of the author to publication, to distribution, to access. One way to do this is to create a more inclusive repository that provides reliable information about the research output produced by faculty affiliated with the institution.
