Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
In this epoch, one of the greatest challenges facing libraries all over the world is how to effectively curb the menace of user delinquency. The academic libraries in the university community in Nigeria cannot be isolated from this problem. Consequently, this study examined the issue of user delinquency in Nigeria using three selected universities in Edo State as case study. The universities were Ambrose Alli University, Benson Idahosa University and University of Benin. A survey research design was adopted and the Questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection in addition to interview and observation methods. 350 copies of …

Reading The Representation: Using Assessment To Understand Student Knowledge, Rebecca Feind
Faculty and Staff Publications
Now that competencies for information literacy are widely communicated in higher education, including in Art and Design, assessing student learning of the standards is the next step in fully incorporating information literacy in the discipline. A recent investigation at San Jose State University of students’ ability to analyze citations illustrates that students need practice in identifying types of sources, and that this practice can be effectively delivered through brief active learning activities.

Nurturing Failure: Creating A Risk-Tolerant Library Culture That Embraces Change And Innovation, Christopher Sweet
Scholarly Publications
The culture of success is pervasive in our society. It is unacceptable to get anything other than an “A”. “Win at all costs.” “No room for error.” At the same time, we know that great inventions always come after a long string of failures. In the corporate world, a few very successful companies and entrepreneurs have learned that calculated risk and the freedom to fail are the keys to innovation and progress. This webcast will examine how creating a risk-tolerant culture can aid in keeping academic libraries both vibrant and relevant in the current economy.

Strategic Change And Alignment: Scholarworks At Boise State University, Marilyn K. Moody
Library Faculty Publications and Presentations
Libraries must engage in strategic change and realign themselves much more closely with the university mission, vision, and strategic priorities. These new alignments are essential in this environment of constant change, and are particularly crucial regarding faculty and support of their teaching and research. This presentation gives examples of the Boise State University ScholarWorks institutional repository+ services and how those services support the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the university.

Towards An Information Literacy Continuum: Examining The High School To College Research Transition, Christopher Sweet, Amanda Pilgrim, Dana Convery
Scholarly Publications
We know that many students have difficulties meeting faculty expectations for college-level research. Basic search strategies, critical thinking and evaluation skills are often lacking. Increased dialogue between academic librarians, school librarians and teaching faculty could begin to address some of these problems in a proactive manner. This presentation is a small step in that direction. Chris Sweet, Information Literacy Librarian at Illinois Wesleyan University, will introduce this topic from an academic librarian’s perspective. Dana Convery, English and Literature instructor at Prairie Central High School, will discuss high school research from the trenches. What research skills are being taught in the …

Serials Label Printing With Zebra Tlp Printers, Leigh Ann Duncan
University Libraries' Staff Publications
In 2009, Wright State University Libraries began printing single monographic spine labels with Zebra printers. The process worked so well, we wanted to print serials labels with the printers as well. Because serials labels are not one of the print templates options, we had to make the procedure work with the legacy printing method. These posters will illustrate how we used Zebra TLP 2824 printers with Print Wizard to format and print serials labels.
