Impact Of Librarian Mediated Literature Review Services, Heather Martin, Carrie Grinstead, Danielle Linden

Providence Nursing Research Conference 2023 – Present

Background:

The Providence Library team has not had a systematic way to gather feedback from our users regarding our literature review service. While we receive many grateful responses to our literature searches, we need more detailed, consistent information about our impacts to inform leadership and improve our services. Previous studies have documented the importance of library services in hospitals, and the impact librarians make on quality patient care. As a small team serving a large health system, we need to carefully evaluate the effects of our work, share successes, and gather information that will help us improve. We conducted this …

The following search strategies were built for a systematic review addressing non-arthritic hip diseases and psychosocial factors. An a priori protocol for this review was developed and registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021248562). The search was originally designed in PubMed, then translated to the other databases searched (Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, and SPORTDiscus). The Pornography Industry's Disinformation Campaign On Addiction Recovery Resources, Darryl Mead 2023 The Reward Foundation

The Pornography Industry's Disinformation Campaign On Addiction Recovery Resources, Darryl Mead

Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence

As pornography became increasingly popular online, many unsuspecting consumers reported adverse effects. These included sexual dysfunctions, such as lack of response with real partners, delayed ejaculation, erectile difficulties, and sexual compulsivity. Some pornography consumers began congregating in online self-help portals (forums and websites) to assist one another in quitting or reducing problematic pornography use. The popularity of the self-help resources and their potential to dampen the profits of a lucrative industry resulted in disinformation campaigns run by individuals connected to the pornography industry. In this article, I examine how a paper containing significant inaccuracies about the people organising the online …

Librarian Publications

Instructional medical librarians are uniquely positioned in a context governed by multiple instructional frameworks emerging from librarianship and the professions with which they liaise. Yet very little literature exists on medical librarians’ use of curriculum mapping to align their instruction with these frameworks. This review illuminates the current state of curriculum mapping in medical librarianship. We searched five bibliographic databases for articles published between 2010 and August 2021 and centred on information literacy(IL)curriculum mapping within a health sciences university context. Studies were included based upon pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were extracted using an instrument developed primarily a priori, with …

Resiliency Strategies For Brightly Burning Librarians, Christine Andresen, Irene Lubker

MUSC Conference Presentations

Purpose: Librarianship is a helping profession which means caring is one of our superpowers, yet also makes us more likely to cross our own boundaries in our efforts to support our users, leaving us vulnerable to burnout. Our best intentions, fears of missing out, and need to prove our value often drive us to the limits of our abilities to sustain the levels of service we provide. This presentation will prepare librarians with strategies to promote overall well-being and foster resiliency.

Description: Health sciences librarians often happily agree to new, exciting opportunities, only to find that our best intentions end …
