Historically, collection development has focused on what material to purchase. However, with the maturation of web-based music audio databases, web-based video databases, online music scores, electronic books and reference material, and commercial audio/visual streaming services, the format of material is also now an important collection consideration. This study sought to investigate the institutional support employed for collection development practices in Private University Libraries in South-West Nigeria. This study adopted the qualitative research design. The population comprised 57 key informants made up of heads of the libraries and acquisition librarians from 31 Private University libraries. The total enumeration technique was used for the study. A Key Informant Interview was the instrument used for data collection. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Findings revealed that institutional support had an impact on collection development practices. When Utah’s three law libraries closed their doors in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, legal practitioners, researchers, and self-represented litigants lost access to the superseded Utah Code Annotated (UCA), which existed only in print form at these three libraries. Access to the UCA was restored in early 2021 through an LSTA grant-funded project that digitized UCA volumes and pocket parts from 1943-1995 and disseminated these materials via an open access Digital Commons collection.

It reduces the repetition of research studies by minimising the cost of access and encouraging the reuse of research data. But at the same time, the contributor researchers are also concerned about the long term preservation, meta-descriptions and citation support of their research publication shard in open access repositories. This research aims to identify the challenges and strategies of school libraries during pandemic to support distance learning. This research used qualitative methods with a case study approach conducted in three high school libraries in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data collection techniques consist of in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The informant involved in the study was five people consisting of the head of the school and the librarian of the school. Data analysis techniques use stages of reduction, display, and verification. The study found that school libraries found three major challenges to services during pandemics. …

Architecture collections have been a mainstay for Special Collections and Archives at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV SCA), since the late 1970s. Until 2017, most architecture collections in Special Collections and Archives have consisted of physical records. In recent years, curators began acquiring architecture collections with significant born-digital content, which present unique challenges different from other types of born-digital materials. This case study discusses how staff adapted existing workflows for born-digital materials to process and describe two collections comprised of born-digital architecture and design records. The W.T. Carter and Brother Lumber Company began in 1898 and operated until 1968 when it was sold to the U.S. Plywood Corporation. The Polk County, Texas company harvested longleaf pine during a crucial period of development for the Texas economy. The lumber industry was the state’s first large scale commercial enterprise not dependent on farming and provided a model for future extractive industries in the state. The W.T. Carter and Brother Lumber Company town of Camden, Texas exemplifies rural implementations of the company town system in the Texas lumber industry.
