Design, Development, Characterization And Testing Of Cd22 Targeted Long Circulating Liposomal Drug Delivery Systems For B Cell Malignancies, Nivesh Kumar Mittal

Theses and Dissertations (ETD)

Hematological malignances of the B cells affect almost 130,000 people in the United States every year of which approximately 44,000 lose their lives. Therapies for B cell malignancies such as doxorubicin, have limitations due to dose related adverse effects such as neutropenia and cardiomyopathy. AD 198 is a novel PKC-delta activating agent that has cytotoxic superiority over doxorubicin by being able to circumvent resistance mechanisms developed by the cancer cells towards doxorubicin and being cadioprotective from the damage caused to cardiomyocytes by doxorubicin. Targeted delivery of AD 198 is crucial to moderate the non-specific interactions of the chemotherapeutic agent with …

Exploring The Roles Of Host And Tumor Cell Α4 And Α7 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors In Lung Cancer., John Caleb Greenwell

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women worldwide. Tobacco exposure represents the major risk factor. Nicotine, an addictive plant alkaloid found in tobacco, has been demonstrated to stimulate lung carcinoma cells directly via nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) that trigger downstream signals capable of promoting lung cancer growth and progression. Attention has been given to α7 nAChRs, while less is known about α4 nAChRs. However, most studies evaluating these receptors relied on chemical inhibitors notorious for their off-target effects. Consequently, the true role of α4 and α7 nAChRs in lung cancer remains unclear. To address …

Journal Articles: Pharmaceutical Sciences

The RecG DNA helicase a key player in stalled replication fork rescue. The single-stranded DNA binding protein (SSB) participates in this process, but its role in the interaction of RecG with the fork remains unclear. We used atomic force microscopy (AFM) to visualize the interaction of RecG with a fork DNA in the presence of SSB. We discovered that SSB enhances RecG loading efficiency onto the DNA fork by threefold. Additionally, SSB interacts with RecG leading to the RecG remodeling. As a result, RecG separates from the fork, but remains bound to the DNA duplex. Moreover, in this new binding …
