CDK8 and CDK19 Mediator kinases are transcriptional co-regulators implicated in several types of cancer. Small-molecule CDK8/19 inhibitors have recently entered or are entering clinical trials, starting with breast cancer and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). To identify other cancers where these novel drugs may provide benefit, we queried genomic and transcriptomic databases for potential impact of CDK8, CDK19, or their binding partner CCNC. sgRNA analysis of a panel of tumor cell lines showed that most tumor types represented in the panel, except for some central nervous system tumors, were not dependent on these genes. Prenyltransferase (PT) biocatalysts are late-stage tailoring enzymes that modify natural products. PTs catalyze the attachment of prenyl moieties to natural product acceptors using pyrophosphate donors. This prenyl modification in small molecules leads to changes in structural and biological activities. Understanding the structural insights as well as the mechanisms by which PTs function allows us to utilize PTs as a unique approach towards drug development. Background: Significant concerns are associated with the use of broad-spectrum antibacterial agents, including collateral eradication of beneficial bacteria from the human microbiome, the onset of antibacterial-associated infections, and continued emergence of antibacterial drug resistance. As such, a critical need for novel and selective antibacterial targets exists. The investigation of two such targets, each pertaining to the highly concerning infections caused by streptococcal species and Clostridioides difficile, are presented herein. The human voltage-gated proton channel [Hv1⁽¹⁾ or VSDO⁽²⁾] plays an important role in the human innate immune system. Its structure differs considerably from those of other cation channels. It is built solely of a voltage-sensing domain and thus lacks the central pore domain, which is essential for other cation channels. Here, we determined the solution structure of an N- and C-terminally truncated human Hv1 (Δ-Hv1) in the resting state by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-cancer effect of a combination therapy of miRNA-29b and genistein loaded in mucin-1 (MUC 1)-aptamer functionalized hybrid nanoparticles in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cell line. Genistein-miRNA-29b-loaded hybrid nanoparticles (GMLHN) was prepared and characterized. Particle size and zeta potential were measured using photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Encapsulation efficiency and loading efficiency were determined using HPLC. Preferential internalization of MUC 1-aptamer functionalized GMLHN by A549 cells was evaluated and compared to normal MRC-5 cells. The success of value-added pharmacy services is enhanced when they are carried out and assessed using appropriate theory-based paradigms. Quinolones are the second most common antibiotic class associated with drug-induced allergic reactions, but data on quinolone allergy are scarce. This review article discusses the available evidence on quinolone allergy, including prevalence, risk factors, diagnosis, clinical manifestations, cross-reactivity, and management of allergic reactions. Although the incidence of quinolone allergy is still lower than beta-lactams, it has been increasingly reported in recent decades, most likely from its expanded use and the introduction of moxifloxacin. BACKGROUND: The appropriate dose of enoxaparin for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis in low body weight patients is unknown.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of enoxaparin dosing on major and minor bleeding events in low body weight patients.

METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients weighing less than 45 kg receiving subcutaneous (SC) enoxaparin for VTE prevention. The primary objective was to determine whether enoxaparin dose was associated with major and minor bleeding. The secondary objective was to determine the incidence of VTE by enoxaparin dose.

Medication therapy management (MTM) is a service, most commonly provided by pharmacists, intended to identify and resolve medication therapy problems (MTPs) to enhance patient care. MTM is typically documented by the community pharmacist in an MTM vendor’s web-based platform. These platforms often include integrated alerts to assist the pharmacist with assessing MTPs.
