Purpose

Intermountain Healthcare’s operating model is one of continuous improvement. This model was used to identify barriers and develop pharmacy-driven interventions to improve the communication about medicines domain scores within the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. This survey offers objective and meaningful information that is important for consumers and creates incentives for hospitals to improve quality of care. This study took place at Riverton Hospital, a 97-bed community hospital that is part of the Intermountain Healthcare system in Utah.

Status epilepticus (SE) is a type of medical emergency. It occurs when a person has a single seizure lasting more than 5 minutes or multiple seizures within a five-minute timeframe without a return to normal function in between. The specific aims of this research include identifying and describing characteristics associated with all-cause non-elective 30-day readmissions for US adult (>18 years) patients following a SE index hospitalization. The costs of the index visit, readmission, and cumulative costs are also described, and characteristics statistically significantly associated with changes in costs reported. Objective: We attempted to identify risk factors for postpartum depression (PPD) by evaluating individuals in terms of their birth patterns, as well as other characteristics, including income level, smoking habits, number of children, age, and history of antidepressants. Methods and results: Participants completed a questionnaire consisting of three sections: demographic characteristics, delivery characteristics, and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale. Participants with a depression medical history had a higher depression level during the postpartum. There were significant correlations between postpartum depression, the husband’s working status, the desire fo r the pregnancy, and the patient’s depression medical history. The Muon g-2 Experiment at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) has measured the muon anomalous precession frequency ωam to an uncertainty of 434 parts per billion (ppb), statistical, and 56 ppb, systematic, with data collected in four storage ring configurations during its first physics run in 2018. When combined with a precision measurement of the magnetic field of the experiment's muon storage ring, the precession frequency measurement determines a muon magnetic anomaly of aμ(FNAL)=116 592 040(54)×10-11 (0.46 ppm). This article describes the multiple techniques employed in the reconstruction, analysis, and fitting of the data to measure the precession frequency. It …

Lung cancer claims the highest mortality and the second-most new cases among all oncological diseases. NSCLC accounts for approximately 85% of all newly diagnosed lung cancers. Although platinum-based drugs are standard first-line chemotherapy for stage IIIB/IV NSCLC, accumulating reports have shown the failure of conventional platinum-based regimens due to drug resistance. Miriplatin is a lipophilic anti-cancer drug that has been approved in Japan for transcatheter arterial chemoembolization treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Lipid-based nanoparticles such as liposomes, micelles, and solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) can encapsulate anti-cancer drugs to improve their water solubility and bioavailability.

Objective: To develop a mentor-supervised, interprofessional, geriatric telemedicine experiential education project in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Medical and pharmacy students collaborated via remote consultations to address the coexistence of multimorbidity and polypharmacy in geriatric patients. In-depth interviews of students and patients as well as Likert scale-based telephonic survey were performed for a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s significance. Results: To date, 49 consultations have been conducted. Remote consultations performed by medical and pharmacy students working collaboratively were beneficial for both students, participants. Aging of the skin is a complicated bioprocess that is affected by constant exposure to ultraviolet irradiation. The application of herbal-based anti-aging creams is still the best choice for treatment. In the present study, Citrus sinensis L. fruit peels ethanolic extract (CSPE) was formulated into lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) anti-aging cream. Eight different formulations of CSEP-LNPs were prepared and optimized using 23 full factorial designs. In vivo antiaging effect of the best formula was tested in Swiss albino mice where photo-aging was induced by exposure to UV radiation. Developing an understanding of the biochemistry of aging in both sexes is critical for managing disease throughout the lifespan. Lipidomic associations with age and sex have been reported, but prior studies are limited by measurements in serum rather than plasma or by participants taking lipid-lowering medications.

Methods
Our study included lipidomic data from 980 participants aged 18–87 years old from the Genetics of Lipid-Lowering Drugs and Diet Network (GOLDN). Free Trade Agreements (FTA) are controversial for threatening essential aspects of health, especially access to affordable medicines. The US-Peru FTA required changes in the Peruvian pharmaceutical legislation that resulted in the implementation of the National Drug Policy (NDP) of 2009. The NDP included more robust technical requirements for registration, a Peruvian Good Manufacturing Practices certificate, a longer timeline for drug registration, and an increase in registration fees. This study evaluated the impact of the FTA on the number of registrations and competition in the Peruvian pharmaceutical market.

Periploca aphylla (PA), an interesting Saudi medicinal plant, is used in folk medicine to treat urticaria, cerebral fever, tumors, and swelling. To prove its use in folk medicine, two different extracts from the aerial parts of the plant: chloroform P-1, and n-butanol P-2 were subjected to biological assays to screen peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα and PPARγ) agnostic, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, cytotoxic, and estrogenic activities. In addition, five bioactive secondary metabolites were isolated from the aerial parts of the plant: rutin, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, ursolic acid, and stigmasterol. This paper presents the beam dynamics systematic corrections and their uncertainties for the Run-1 dataset of the Fermilab Muon g-2 Experiment. Two corrections to the measured muon precession frequency ωam are associated with well-known effects owing to the use of electrostatic quadrupole (ESQ) vertical focusing in the storage ring. An average vertically oriented motional magnetic field is felt by relativistic muons passing transversely through the radial electric field components created by the ESQ system. The correction depends on the stored momentum distribution and the tunes of the ring, which has relatively weak vertical focusing. Vertical betatron motions imply that the …
