The Effect Of Bevel On Fracture Resistance Of Gic Restorations In Primary Molars: An In Vitro Study, Audrey Fikani, Lara Nasr, Elie Khoury, Marianne Freiha, Marc Krikor Kaloustian, Feriale Abi Zeid Daou, Melissa Chaaya, Marlene Khoury

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Introduction: Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are commonly used for restorations in primary molars due to their adhesive, hydrophilic, and bioactive properties. However, their low mechanical resistance may limit their use in proximal cavities. Recent advancements in GICs, such as the high viscosity GIC EQUIA Forte®, have improved their mechanical properties. The effect of a Cavo superficial bevel on the mechanical strength of GIC restorations has been previously studied.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of a Cavo superficial bevel on fracture resistance and the type of fracture (adhesive, cohesive, or catastrophic) in EQUIA Forte® GIC restorations in primary molars. …

Food Deserts And Pediatric Oral Health Status In An Under-Resourced Urban Community, Jessica T. McAuliffe 2023 Virginia Commonwealth University

Food Deserts And Pediatric Oral Health Status In An Under-Resourced Urban Community, Jessica T. Mcauliffe

Theses and Dissertations

Purpose: The aim of this analysis of survey data was to assess the influence of living within a food desert as a predictor of oral health problems among children of East Henrico County, Virginia.

Methods: Survey participants were recruited and questionnaires applied online. Residing in a food desert, using access to affordable produce as a proxy value, was the independent variable, while self- reported assessment of the child’s oral health status was the primary outcome variable. Analyses controlled for other indirect factors of pediatric oral health. Logistic regression was used to model the association between the self-reported access to healthy …
