Longitudinal data in real-world settings are frequently found to be heterogeneous and exhibit intricate spatio-temporal dependence structures. Analyzing such complex data to obtain reliable estimation while quantifying uncertainty necessitates using sophisticated Bayesian methodology. In this work, we present novel Bayesian methods developed to address these challenges. We often observe heterogeneity in longitudinal data, where the mean and variance for certain profiles meaningfully differs from the rest. Some profiles may also exhibit outliers at a limited number of measurements. Using a standard mixed effects model, which assumes homogeneity, can lead to overestimating the residual variance and inefficient estimation. In this work, …

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a low-intensity light therapy that uses non-ionizing forms of energy to induce a directed cellular response. Prior work has investigated the effects of blue light exposure at energy densities ranging from 1 J/cm2 to 10 J/cm2 on osteogenic differentiation of human gingival mesenchymal stem cells (hGMSCs), human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs), and stem cells from the apical papilla (SCAPs) and shown promising outcomes at 4 J/cm2 and then having a detrimental impact at higher energy densities. Aspiration of dental instruments is a rare event that carries potentially serious complications when it occurs, especially in older patients, where protective reflexes are diminished. Clinical management may be difficult because of the risk of granulation tissue and different retrieval strategies according to the object’s characteristics. In this report, we describe the case of an 84-year-old man who aspirated a dental bur during a routine dental procedure, necessitating immediate intervention. This innovative approach provides numerous advantages, including immediate enhancements in facial aesthetics, occlusion, and phonetic function while significantly reducing overall treatment duration. SFA is especially beneficial for patients exhibiting specific characteristics, such as well-aligned teeth and minimal occlusal discrepancies. In this case study, a patient presented with persistent facial asymmetry and lip protrusion despite previous orthodontic treatment. Bimaxillary protrusion is a common facial profile among Asians, typically managed through non-surgical orthodontic approaches. However, when an unfavorable facial profile is combined with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), surgical intervention may become the primary treatment choice. This case report presents a modified maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) technique in a 31-year-old male patient who presented with lip protrusion and snoring. Polysomnography revealed severe OSA with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of 39.7. Clinical examination showed increased lower facial height, skeletal Class II jaw relationship, and Angle Class I malocclusion with complete overbite. Objectives: This study investigated the synthesis and partial characterization of phosphorylated chitosan extracted from the cuttlebone of Sepia aculeata (Orbingy, 1848) and evaluated its antimicrobial potential against oral pathogens. Methods: The synthesis of phosphorylated chitosan from Sepia aculeata cuttlebone involved several steps: cleaning, deproteinization, demineralization to extract chitin, deacetylation to produce chitosan, and phosphorylation to introduce phosphate groups. Phosphorylation enhances the properties of chitosan, making it a promising candidate for oral health applications.
