Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the marginal adaptation of Biodentine and MTA in the presence and absence of blood in simulated furcation perforation cavities using microcomputed tomographic (micro-CT) assessment. Materials and methods Furcation perforation cavities were prepared on 64 extracted human mandibular first molars. Samples were randomly divided into 4 groups: Biodentine with blood contamination group, Biodentine without blood contamination group, MTA with blood contamination group, and MTA without blood contamination group. All samples were scanned using microcomputed tomography to measure cavity volume and material volume at initial setting time and at 24 hours after setting. …

Objective To evaluate the allergic reaction of skin and oral mucosa to acemannan orabase in a shortterm observation. Materials and methods Forty-eight healthy subjects (24 females and 24 males) participated in this study. The closed patch test was used to observe and compare the skin reaction after exposure to 0.5% acemannan orabase and plain orabase (gelatin, pectin, carboxymethylcelluose sodium, liquid paraffin, and polyethylene glycol) for 48 and 72 hours. Background Edentulous patients with severe bone loss encounter lower complete denture (L-CD) instability problems. Mini dental implant (MDI) retained L-CDs are an alternative treatment for unstable L-CD patients. This study subjectively and objectively evaluated masticatory efficiency before and after MDI retained L-CD treatment. Materials and methods The subjects received 4 MDIs in the anterior mandible to retain their L-CD. Masticatory efficiency was evaluated after using their L-CD at least 3 months prior to MDI placement, 1 month after L-CD loading, and 3 months after L-CD loading. Objective To study the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) as a vehicle for sodium perborate (SP) on microleakage of resin composite by using glucose filtration. Materials and methods Thirty six single-rooted teeth were used. The specimens with cavity were prepared and divided into three groups: Group 1, SP mixed with 2% CHX; Group 2, SP mixed with distilled water; Group 3, SP mixed with 30% hydrogen peroxide. With a total conduction of three times, bleaching agent was applied in the cavities for 1 week and rinsed. The cavities were then filled with resin composite. Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare two anchorage modalities. Differential mass and differential moments were compared for their anchorage effectiveness in the sagittal and vertical dimensions. Class I patients with maximum anchorage requirements and treated with four first premolar extractions were selected. Objective: This study evaluated the release of fluoride from orthodontic band adhesives before and after exposure to fluoride varnish (FV), MI Paste (MIP), MI Paste Plus (MIPP), or no application, in neutral and acidic solutions. Background: White spot lesions (WSLs) occur in 73% of orthodontic patients. WSLs occur as a result of plaque accumulation, which leads to increased acidity of the oral cavity and subsequent enamel demineralization. Topical fluoride is frequently used as therapy for WSLs, in the form of toothpaste, mouth-rinse and varnish. The recent publication of an article that is listed as a Critical Issue in the Journal of Dental Hygiene deserves strong letters of endorsement from nursing professionals. It has been twelve years since the Institute of Medicine called for interprofessional education to be adopted by the health professional education community. The increasing numbers of dentists in dental programs and the decreasing numbers of physicians in medical programs lend itself for dentists and physicians to be supportive of such interprofessional collaborations.
