To Repair Or Replace: That Is The Restorative Question, Juhstin M. Brown, Clement S. Augustus
Dental Hygiene Student Scholarship
Objective/Aims: During dental visits, patients spend the majority of their time with their dental hygienist. At these recall appointments the patient’s face-to-face time with the dentist may be short. At this part of the appointment the dentist may diagnose the need for restorative treatment for the patient. Part of the hygienist’s responsibility is to explain treatment options for teeth with restorative needs. The purpose of this review of literature is to provide both options for restoration of dentition to a functional/aesthetic state.
Methods: Studies pertaining to the topic were searched using PubMed database. Keywords used in the search were amalgam, …

In Class II deep-bite malocclusions with growth potential, we could combine orthodontic treatment with orthopedic methods to achieve stable occlusion. The case was a 12-year-old male presented with Class II malocclusion, deep-bite, and low mandibular plane angle. In the stage I treatment, headgear was used to restrict the growth of maxilla. Bilateral Class III molar relationship was gained. After re-evaluation, stage II treatment was started from full mouth banding and bonding, with emphasis on leveling lower curve of Spee and intruding lower anterior teeth by placing reverse curve of Spee in the archwire and intrusive arch to solve the deep …

Expression Of Endocan And Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor In Recurrent Minor Aphthous Ulcers, 2019 The British University in Egypt
Expression Of Endocan And Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor In Recurrent Minor Aphthous Ulcers, Enji Ahmed Mahmoud, Wesam Abdelmonem, Olfat Gamil Shaker, Dalia Mohey-Eldien Ghalwash
Dentistry
Background: Recurrent aphthous ulcers (RAU) are common painful inflammatory lesions of the mucous lining of the mouth. Endocan, previously identified as endothelial cell specific molecule-1, is implicated as a vital player in the regulation of several inflammatory processes. A number of inflammatory cytokines and pro-angiogenic growth factors including VEGF upregulate endothelial cells synthesis and expression of endocan. Material and Methods: Clinical scores of pain and ulcer size as well as level of endocan and VEGF were determined in swaps from aphthous ulcer and contra lateral normal mucosa in 30 patients (nine males and twenty one females) with age ranging from …
