This study investigates the literature evidence regarding the association between Alzheimer's disease and periodontitis. Our research aims to determine if individuals with periodontitis face an elevated risk of Alzheimer's and if shared inflammatory pathways underlie this association.

Cephalometrics is a cornerstone of orthodontic diagnosis. Numerous angularmeasurements are used to assess the anteroposterior jaw relation include the ANB angle, Betaangle, Yen angle, and W angle. However, these have limitations, leading to the development of thePi angle. Our study aimed to evaluate the predictability of the Pi angle in a South Indian populationand compare it with other established antero-posterior dysplasia indicators such as the ANB angle,W angle, Yen angle, and Beta angle. This comparison is crucial for determining the most accuratemethod for assessing sagittal skeletal discrepancies.

Recent studies have suggested a link between PD and CHD, but there is less research in this field from the perspective of bibliometrics. Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the intricate relationship between periodontal disease (PD) and coronary artery disease (CAD), as evidenced by epidemiological associations. Metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP1) plays a pivotal role in cellular signaling, differentiation, cell death, and migration by binding to target metalloproteinases, forming complexes with other molecules (collagenases) to inactivate them. However, the expression of TIMP1 is reduced in both PD and CAD, leading to an upregulation of other metalloproteinases. This research explores the hypothesis that metabolites released from (Porphyromonas gingivalis), a prevalent bacterium in atherosclerotic patients, may inhibit TIMP1, thereby influencing CAD progression. …

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES: Research is an integral part of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) residency training. This study aimed to identify the current barriers perceived by OMS residents toward conducting research during training.

METHODS: A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted. The survey was distributed to 670 OMS residents across the United States in 2021 and consisted of questions regarding demographics, residency program requirements and resources, and perceived barriers to research. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Fisher's exact tests, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and post hoc Dunn's test with a statistical significance of P < 0.05.

They face a myriad of health challenges including psychological, nutritional, auditory, speech, airway, skeletal, and dental. BACKGROUND: Dental Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) relate to a dental patient's subjective experience of their oral health. How practitioners and patients value PROs influences their successful use in practice.

METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 practitioners and 32 patients who provided feedback on using a mobile health (mHealth) platform to collect the pain experience after dental procedures. A themes analysis was conducted to identify implementation barriers and facilitators.

This consensus of nomenclature and classification for congenital bicuspid aortic valve and its aortopathy is evidence-based and intended for universal use by physicians (both pediatricians and adults), echocardiographers, advanced cardiovascular imaging specialists, interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, pathologists, geneticists, and researchers spanning these areas of clinical and basic research. In addition, as long as new key and reference research is available, this international consensus may be subject to change based on evidence-based data1.

Periodontitis has recently been defined as a dysbiotic disease caused by an imbalanced oral microbiota. The transition from commensal microbial communities to periodontitis-associated ones requires colonization by specific pathogens, including Porphyromonas gingivalis. We previously reported an antagonistic relationship between Streptococcus cristatus and P. gingivalis. To determine the role of S. cristatus in altering the interactions of P. gingivalis with other oral bacteria in a complex context, we collected dental plaque samples from patients with periodontitis and assigned them to two groups based on the ratios of S. cristatus and P. gingivalis. INTRODUCTION: There is no cause -based treatment for Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ). MRONJ is a morbid condition including exposed, infected bone and mandibular fractures in osteoporotic individuals and metastatic cancers patients treated with nitrogen containing bisphosphonates (NBP). NBPs inhibit farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS) in the mevalonate pathway, depriving osteoclasts and other bone cells of small GTPases necessary for their function and survival. Healing in compromised and complicated bone defects is often prolonged and delayed due to the lack of bioactivity of the fixation device, secondary infections, and associated oxidative stress. Here, we propose amorphous silicon oxynitride (SiONx) as a coating for the fixation devices to improve both bioactivity and bacteriostatic activity and reduce oxidative stress.
