Over 500,000 tons of organic materials such as food scraps are disposed of each year in Wisconsin. A large percentage of this material could be composted or turned into useful products.5 The purpose of this article is to educate farmers and organizations on how to turn food waste into a high value food source for livestock. Lessons learned and challenges explored in building the Ohio wine collection. Working with local winemakers and proprietors, the Ohio Wine Producers Association, Ohio Grape Industries, and the Viticulture Enology Science and Technology Alliance program coordinators, KSUA wine program and library staff have developed a DC site that chronicles the growth and impact of the industry statewide from the late 1960's to the present through photos, letters, newsletters, and interviews.

Terroir is determined by a combination of factors in the vineyard including the grape varietal, geology and soil, soil hydrology, physiography, and climate. Although most studies have examined regional differences in wine flavors and associated provenance of wine based on chemistry, few have examined the chemistry of the soil and the ability to trace that chemistry to grape juice and, finally, to the wine. This dissertation examines what soil physical and chemical differences specific to this region might influence grape juice chemistry and wine chemistry.

This two part study was carried out in the Snake River Valley American viticulture area (SRV AVA) in Idaho. This area is a northern latitude, high elevation plateau where growing season is delimited by cold temperature. For the first part of the study, the performance of red and white-skinned winegrape cultivars (Vitis vinifera, L.) were compared to that of the widely grown cultivars Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Phenology, juice composition, yield, cold injury, and cold hardiness were observed during the 2011 and 2012 growing seasons.
