Considering the great diversity among dogs and their different biological and health characteristics, as well as different treatment protocols, it has become important to assess the effects of these factors on intraindividual variability of blood parameters in dogs, which is the aim of this study. Blood samples were collected from one hundred client-owned dogs. The dogs were of different age, breed, sex, body condition, reproductive, and health status and were presented to the veterinary clinic for preventive or diagnostic procedures. This study was carried out to investigate the species identification and enumeration of some pathogenic microorganisms before and after feeding the full ration contaminated by predatory starling bird herds on 5 different days in the dairy cattle farm in Aksaray. The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution and density of IgG, vimentin, and CD45 in mouse placenta on the fourth, tenth, and seventeenth days of pregnancy. Strept avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex (streptABC) staining method was used. On the fourth day of pregnancy, the expression of IgG, vimentin, and CD45 was more intense around the uterine glands. On the tenth day, IgG, vimentin and CD45 positive cells were demonstrated in decidua basalis and mesometrial parietal trophoblast giant cells (P-TGCs) and mesometrial lymphocyte groups (MLAp) portions. This study was conducted with two experiments to investigate the efficacy of intravaginal antibiotic or their combination with different gonadotropin use on vaginitis and the fertility in Berrichon ewes. All ewes (n = 106) were synchronized with intravaginal sponges containing 60 mg medroxyprogesterone acetate for 14 days. The data of birth weight of 28,768 kids, the body weight of 27,541 kids aged d 90, and reproductive parameters of 26,693 does were used between 2013 and 2017 years. In this study, different applications of ram introduction at the beginning of the breeding season were investigated in terms of their effects on some fertility parameters. In this study, avian coronavirus infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV), avian metapneumovirus (AMPV), and avian reovirus (ARV) were evaluated in broiler and layer flocks. For this purpose, tracheal swabs from 48 broiler and 45 layer flocks with respiratory signs were inoculated SPF embryonated chicken eggs for virus isolation. The viruses were identified by real-time PCR. Results showed that the most common virus in both broiler and layer farms was IBV with incidence rates of 58.33% and 46.67%, respectively. This study was conducted to determine the effect of nonfiber carbohydrates (NFC) and crude protein (CP) present in formula feed on the rumen fermentation characteristics and growth performance of weaned Hanwoo calves. Forty weaned calves were randomly assigned to four dietary groups based on NFC and CP levels as follows: high NFC (HN) at 38%-42%, low NFC (LN) at 33%-36%, high CP (HP) at 25%-26%, and low CP (LP) at 23%-24%. Heat production relative to dissipation rates have constrained reproductive effort and reduced fitness in short-lived, temperate birds. To determine whether heat constrains reproductive effort in long-lived taxa with low reproductive effort, we experimentally clipped plumage from tropical Gray-throated babblers (Stachyris nigriceps) to increase heat dissipation rates. Contrary to findings in short-lived species, we found no strong evidence of heat dissipation constraints on reproductive effort in our mid-elevation study. Clipped adults did not increase feeding rates compared to controls, but clipped females did spend more time incubating and brooding eggs and young. The introduction of nonnative fish is a major driver in the decline of native fish species. Nonnative rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss; RBT) introduced into the native range of westslope cutthroat trout (O. clarkii lewisi; WCT) have led to the introgressive hybridization between these two species. This widespread hybridization is a primary threat to the long-term persistence of WCT as it can cause population-level genomic extinction. Semi-fossorial plethodontid salamanders exhibit behavioral plasticity to avoid desiccation, retreating underground to shelter from adverse conditions such as low precipitation and high temperatures. In this study, I used passive integrated transponder (PIT) tag surveys to monitor this behavior in the Del Norte salamander (Plethodon elongatus), a small plethodontid native to northwestern California and southwestern Oregon. Within its range, a climatic gradient exists in which coastal areas experience milder temperatures and high precipitation, while inland areas tend to have colder winters, hotter summers, and lower precipitation. Resistance to the idea that non-human animals are sentient resembles erstwhile resistance to the theory that the earth is not the centre of the universe, or that humans evolved from “apes”. All these notions are psychologically threatening. They can remind people of their own creatureliness and mortality and might make them feel guilty or uncertain about their way of life. An honest debate over animal sentience, welfare and rights should consider the human motivation to deprive animals of these things in the first place. I briefly review empirical evidence on the psychological function of denying animal minds.

In this study, I used ruffed grouse drumming survey data from Minnesota and Michigan, in a series of mixed logistic models, to identify drivers of drumming log selection by reproductive male ruffed grouse. I collected drumming stage data utilizing a paired-random sampling structure. High ambient temperature (HTa) increased the respiration rate (RR) and rectal temperature (Tr) of dairy goats. The excess response resulted in acid-base imbalance, electrolyte imbalance, and systemic oxidative which could indirectly affect the mammary gland. Besides, HTa did directly alter cell function, and this has been proposed to be mediated by oxidative stress. We previously showed that high dietary cation and anion differences (DCAD) could decrease the HTa effect. In dairy cows, a high dose ascorbic acid (Asc) has been used to decrease oxidative stress. Chapman & Huffman (C&H) offer a theory of why we humans want to believe that we are different: to justify our cruelty to animals. This commentary offers further supporting evidence of this and examines more closely what the claim that humans are ‘different’ amounts to. It also considers some methodological issues in animal psychology closely related to C&H ‘s theory. These problems result from a common strategy for defending hypotheses about human difference.

A comprehensive gastrointestinal parasite control program includes an understanding of common parasites, application of chemotherapeutic agents, as well as frequent and appropriate diagnostic testing. An effective control program is essential for facilities such as animal shelters, that deal with large populations of transient canines with unknown parasite exposure and deworming history. Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.; hemp) is an emerging crop in the United States with little known about bird use or the potential for birds to become an agricultural pest. We identified birds associated with hemp fields, using repeated visits to oilseed plots in North Dakota, USA (n = 6) and cannabinoid (CBD) plots in Florida, USA (n = 4) from August to November 2020.
