Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: As the automated container terminal is the development trend of terminal, AGV (automated guided vehicle) becomes the most widely used horizontal transportation tool and it is important to make its reasonable charging strategy. Aiming at the shortcomings of the current AGV, a charging strategy of offline charging being primary and online charging being auxiliary is proposed. In order to solve the problem of location selection of online charging station, a quick method of selecting effective stations by using heat zone map is proposed. Through a large number of simulation experiments using this strategy, the fact that the number …

Global Optimization Method Based On Consensus Particle Swarm Optimization, Zhanwen Lu, Xingong Cheng, Yongfeng Zhang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: According to the characteristics of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and efficient global optimization algorithm (EGO), a global black box optimization algorithm based on consensus particle swarm optimization and local surrogate model (CPSO-LSM) is proposed. The algorithm fixes the period of the PSO algorithm to group the particles and stops after the particles reach a consensus. The high-quality sub-regions around each group of particles are used as the modeling area of the surrogate model, and the high-quality optimal solution or global optimal solution is obtained by comparing the optimal values of each region. It can not only avoid the complex …

Natural Computing Method Based On Lle Dimension Reduction, Luyao Zhang, Weidong Ji, Cheng Hao
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In the natural computing method, the appearance of high-dimensional problem can make some existing optimization algorithms avoid falling into local optimum, but it makes the performance of the algorithm worse and the running time longer. On the basis of traditional natural calculation method, a natural calculation method based on LLE(Local Linear Embedding) algorithm is proposed, which analyzes the value of neighbor particle k and dimension d, and makes the algorithm get better optimization effect after dimension reduction. In the process, a small bias s is added to the data after dimension reduction to increase the diversity of …

Chemical Engineering
A simple, cost-effective and green mucilage-capped silver nanoparticles (Mucilage-AgNPs) modified glassy carbon electrode (GC) composite was constructed for efficient and facile electrochemical oxidation of glucose for the first time. Mucilage-AgNPs were synthesized through the direct chemical reduction of Ag+ by mucilage extracted from Opuntia ficus-indica. Mucilage-AgNPs were identified and characterized using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and square wave voltammetry. Modification of the GC with AgNPs was carried out via a transfer-sticking technique with an immobilization time of 1 h. The Mucilage-AgNPs/GC composite was studied as a possible anode for glucose oxidation in a biofuel cell. The composite resulted in …

Online Implementation Of Structural Analysis Tool For Remote Learning, Ghada El-Mahdy, Amany Micheal
Civil Engineering
The delivery of a structural analysis module to architectural or civil engineering students needs the visualization of certain diagrams, such as the internal force diagrams and the elastic line. These diagrams are difficult to grasp for students new to structural analysis and need a lot of practice to become proficient in drawing them. Current structural analysis textbooks with electronic platforms do not include tools to draw the internal force diagrams or deflection. This has led to the initiative of creating an online structural analysis tool to enable the student to easily apply different loadings on different statical systems to draw …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Multi-population optimization method can solve the optimization difficulty caused by the increase of data volume, but the existing population grouping is carried out by means of random grouping or artificial setting, which doesn't take particle trajectories into full consideration. In view of the problem a self-adaptive dynamic control strategy of population grouping is proposed, which uses Gaussian fitting function as the reference curve of population grouping and divides sub populations according to the function's monotone interval. For particles with the trend of crossing the upper boundary of sub populations, the contrarian strategy is adopted to maintain the population diversity …

Case Study: Unsaturated Embankment Failure On Soft Soils, Ghada Ellithy, Timothy D. Stark
Publications
This paper describes the application of unsaturated soil mechanics to an interstate connecting-ramp embankment that failed during construction. Specifically, matric suction is incorporated into the calculation of the tension crack (TC) depth induced by desiccation and strain incompatibility and the contribution of matric suction to embankment shear strength. The results are compared with field observations to assess the viability of unsaturated soil mechanics in modeling compacted embankments in stability analyses. Results from this study suggest that using unsaturated shear strength parameters while introducing a TC in the compacted fill yields a reasonable inverse analysis of this interstate embankment. This may …

Since the earliest beginning of history, architectural fortresses have acquired varied forms and masses. It was possible to interpret justifications for using many of them; however, usage of some of these forms and masses is still considered as a perplexing mystery for scholars, analysts and interested persons in the topic of mass formulation in architecture. For example, the Giza Pyramids in Egypt which were built 4500 years ago, whose pyramidal mass, which was the output of several astronomic and mathematical relations in the pyramid form, the world is still till our present day analyzing the inherent ideas beyond them. The Use Of Smart Geomtry In Islamic Patterns A Generative Approach To The Restoration Of The Islamic Urban Areas, Mohammed A. Nasr
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
Geometry is an essential design generator in the Islamic architectural style. Islamic styles are distinct for using the art of geometry in their creative designs. In the Islamic designs, geometry represents the order, harmony and beauty in calculations, scale and proportion. It clearly exists in the design of plans, façade, ornaments and patterns. It expresses many concepts of Islam such as the unity and the oneness of Allah, the perfection and the infinity of creation in the universe, the containments and the continuity. The main proportions of the Islamic style depend on the square proportions(ex: Islamic proportion 1:√2 (Williams, 2006), …
