A Hierarchical Integrated Soft Sensing Modeling Method For Gauss Process Regression, Zhao Shuai, Xudong Shi, Weili Xiong
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Chemical processes are often characterized by nonlinearity and multi-phase, a soft sensor model based on the hierarchical ensemble of Gaussian process regression is proposed. First, the Gaussian mixture model is used to divide the process data into different operation phases. Then, the principal component analysis of each stage is carried out, and the model data are divided into several subspaces, according to the contribution of each auxiliary variable in the principal component space, and the corresponding Gaussian process regression model is built. The subspace model output is fused by means to obtain the first level ensemble output. Finally, the …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Pre-coding aided Generalized Quadrature Spatial Modulation (PGQSM) uses the known channel state information to perform pre-coding processing on the in-phase and quadrature signals of the quadrature spatial modulation (QSM), so as to reduce the complexity of the receiver for signal detection. At the same time, an improved Pre-coding aided Generalized Quadrature Spatial Modulation low complexity detection algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of the proposed algorithm’s high complexity at the receiver. The results of analysis and simulation show that the proposed algorithm can achieve almost the same BER performance as the maximum likelihood (ML) algorithm with more than …

Optimized Linear Adrc Control For A Class Of Fractional-Order Chaotic Systems, Huang Yu, Xie Tian, Wu Rui
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Linear active disturbance rejection control has many parameters and it is difficult to obtain appropriate parameters. Therefore, a quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm based on cosine decreasing function is proposed in this article for searching optimal LADRC parameters. In this algorithm, cosine decreasing function and updated equation of quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm are combined. By using the variable characteristic of cosine decreasing function with the increase of iteration times, the original global optimization ability of quantum particle swarm optimization is retained and its poor local optimization ability is overcome. And the simulation results show that the LADRC optimized …

Analysis On The Mission Reliability For Auv Based On Monte Carlo Method, Li Juan, Kunyu Zhang, Haibo Li, Lijuan Yang, Mengdi Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The high reliability of AUV is the necessary condition for it to complete the task satisfactorily and efficiently within the specified time. Traditional fault tree is very convenient for describing the reliability model of the system, but for large and complex system, this will significantly increase the computation of reliability parameters, thus the calculation is difficult. Because it to calculate the reliability parameters of complex systems by the traditional fault tree, this paper adopts the method of combining the minimum cut set of fault tree and Monte Carlo method to establish the reliability model for Underwater Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle …

Localized Dielectric Loss Heating In Dielectrophoresis Devices, Tae Joon Kwak, Imtiaz Hossen, Rashid Bashir, Woo-Jin Chang, Chung-Hoon Lee
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research and Publications
Temperature increases during dielectrophoresis (DEP) can affect the response of biological entities, and ignoring the effect can result in misleading analysis. The heating mechanism of a DEP device is typically considered to be the result of Joule heating and is overlooked without an appropriate analysis. Our experiment and analysis indicate that the heating mechanism is due to the dielectric loss (Debye relaxation). A temperature increase between interdigitated electrodes (IDEs) has been measured with an integrated micro temperature sensor between IDEs to be as high as 70 °C at 1.5 MHz with a 30 Vpp applied voltage to our ultra-low …

1/Fnoise Modelling And Characterization For Cmos Quanta Image Sensors, Wei Deng, Eric R. Fossum
Dartmouth Scholarship
This work fits the measured in-pixel source-follower noise in a CMOS Quanta Image Sensor (QIS) prototype chip using physics-based 1/f noise models, rather than the widely-used fitting model for analog designers. This paper discusses the different origins of 1/f noise in QIS devices and includes correlated double sampling (CDS). The modelling results based on the Hooge mobility fluctuation, which uses one adjustable parameter, match the experimental measurements, including the variation in noise from room temperature to –70 °C. This work provides useful information for the implementation of QIS in scientific applications and suggests that even lower read noise is attainable …

Robot Motion Planning In Dynamic Environments, Hao-Tien Lewis Chiang
Computer Science ETDs
Robot motion planning in dynamic environments is critical for many robotic applications, such as self-driving cars, UAVs and service robots operating in changing environments. However, motion planning in dynamic environments is very challenging as this problem has been shown to be NP-Hard and in PSPACE, even in the simplest case. As a result, the lack of safe, efficient planning solutions for real-world robots is one of the biggest obstacles for ubiquitous adoption of robots in everyday life. Specifically, there are four main challenges facing motion planning in dynamic environments: obstacle motion uncertainty, obstacle interaction, complex robot dynamics and noise, and …

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are issued when dwellings are constructed, sold or leased in the EU. Where the cost of obtaining the required data is prohibitive, EPC assessors use nationally applicable default-values. To ensure that dwellings are not assigned a wrongly-higher EPC rating, a standardised thermal bridging transmittance coefficient (Y-value) is typically adopted for all existing dwellings while worst-case overall heat loss coefficients (U-values) are used. Default U-values are applied to a specific building element type (roof, wall, floor etc.) based on building codes and regulations applicable at time of construction. Due to significant building fabric upgrades, default U-values are …

Rapid Characterization Of Dissolved Organic Matter And Precursors To Disinfection By-Products By Fluorescence Technique, Taha Marhaba
Sustainability Seminar Series
Natural organic matter (NOM) in the environment today does not only come from humic sources, but also from non-humic or synthetic sources. The typical total organic carbon (TOC) analysis has been typically used as an aggregate measure of NOM in water. NOM from surface water sources were isolated and fractionated by resin adsorption techniques into hydrophobic acid, hydrophobic neutral, hydrophobic base, hydrophilic acid, hydrophilic neutral and hydrophilic base. The Spectral Fluorescent Signatures (SFS) technique through a database of spectral characteristics specific to each fraction was developed for the identification of the six NOM fractions. Among the main advantages of the …
