Nebraska Tractor Tests

EXPLANATION OF TEST REPORT GENERAL CONDITIONS East tractor is a production model equipped for common usage. Power consuming accessories can be disconnected only when it is convenient for the operator to do so in practice. Additional weight can be added as ballast if the manufacturer regularly supplies it for sale. The static tire loads and the inflation pressures muse conform to recommendations in the Tire Standards published by the Society of Automotive Engineers. PREPARATION FOR PERFORMANCE RUNS The engine crank case is drained and refilled with a measured amount of new oil conforming to specifications in the operator’s manual. The …

Application Of The Hveem Stabilometer To The Testing Of Open-Graded Bituminous Mixtures, R. A. Hannan Jan 1959

Application Of The Hveem Stabilometer To The Testing Of Open-Graded Bituminous Mixtures, R. A. Hannan

JTRP Technical Reports

This laboratory investigation was conducted with the purposeof determining the applicability of the Hveem Stabilometer to the testing of open-graded bituminous mixtures.

The study was divided into two major sections. The first of these investigated the validity of the Stabilometer displacement measurement when applied to open-graded specimens having large surface air voids. The second portion of the study had two specific purposes: (l) to investigate the stress-strain characteristics of open-graded mixturestested in the Hveem Stabilometer and (2) to determine whether surface voids on the ends of Stabilometer test specimens influenced Hveem stability values.

To check the validity of the displacement …

Generator Control System Employing Semiconductor Apparatus, Don Cronin Jan 1959

Generator Control System Employing Semiconductor Apparatus, Don Cronin

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

This invention relates generally to new and improved transistor control apparatus for controlling the excitation of rotary generators. In the field of transistor control of generators, especially where it is desired to control relatively large field excitation currents, the problem arises of obtaining suitable transistors having a sufficiently large current carrying capacity to properly control the current flowing in the generator exciting field. It has been found that the answer does not lie in paralleling two or more transistors directly, since only by extremely carefully matching of transistors or by utilizing auxiliary electronic components in the circuit can it be …

Bridge Resurfacing With Silica Sand-Asphalt Mixture, Loren H. Strunk Dec 1958

Bridge Resurfacing With Silica Sand-Asphalt Mixture, Loren H. Strunk

Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report

The bituminous section has been engaged in testing silica sand-asphalt mixtures composed of various penetration grades of asphalt and sands from sand and sandstone deposits from several different areas of the state since early this year. The purpose of this study was to develop a surfacing mixture which would provide a skid-resistant surface and which could be machine laid in thin courses.

Csr 381-1, Military Intelligence, Technical Intelligence Relationships, 12 November 1958., Us Army Chief Of Staff, Robert Bolin , Depositor

United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence

This document was issued by the Chief of Staff to prescribe relationships between different officers in the Army staff. Specifically, it was inteded to “prescribe relationships between the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (ACSI), the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (DCSLOG), and the technical Services in the field of intelligence activities.”

It was published as part of an attempt to solve an ongoing organizational problem: how to coordinate the intelligence activities of the US government.

In the 1950s, military intelligence was decentralized. There was no national-level military intelligence agency. In theory, the Chief of Staff and the army …
