Influence Of Online Professional Learning Networks On Teacher Self-Efficacy For Using Information Communication Technology, Jeremy A. O'Toole
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Information communication technology (ICT) is increasingly used to enhance teaching and learning, but many teachers lack mastery-level experiences using these computing technologies in the classroom. To further their knowledge, some teachers have turned to online professional learning networks (PLNs) for development, but further research is needed to explore how and why these networks change teachers’ practice. Framed by Albert Bandura's theory of self-efficacy, the purpose of this study was to explore the influence of online PLNs on teachers’ perceptions of their technological self-efficacy for implementing ICT in the classroom. The research question of this basic qualitative study with interviews addressed …

Built Environment And Well-Being Of Stem Women Employed In The Petroleum Sector, Natalie Robinson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Male-dominated occupations have received increased attention concerning the environmental health and retention of its specialized workforce. Research studies on the impact of the environment suggest that ecological and infrastructure conditions of the workplace affect the psychological health and physical well-being of employees across both public and private industries. Presently, in the context of the oil and gas and engineering field, there is a literature gap in exploring whether workplace conditions or adverse circumstances in male-dominated built environments negatively affect the psychological well-being and retention of women employed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations. For the current qualitative study, …

The School of Education at Walter Baxter College (WBC; a pseudonym), a private, 4-year, liberal arts college located in the Midwestern United States, has not integrated role conceptualization training for cooperating teachers who have partnered within a yearlong, coteaching clinical practice model. The problem was that cooperating teachers have demonstrated inconsistencies in providing mentorship as part of the coteaching model. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to provide information on how to support cooperating elementary education teachers in effectively understanding and executing their roles as mentors to teacher candidates when partnering within a coteaching clinical practice model. Two …
A Case Study Of Elementary Teachers’ Perceptions Of Response To Intervention In Special Education Referrals, Heather Abney Thomas
A Case Study Of Elementary Teachers’ Perceptions Of Response To Intervention In Special Education Referrals, Heather Abney Thomas
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Students identified as at-risk are overrepresented in special education due to specific learning disability referrals and placement. The problem is that elementary teachers’ perceptions of Response to Intervention (RTI) in special education referrals need to be examined due to excessive special education referrals due to lack of individualized instruction and formative data to assess how well the RTI model is implemented. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine elementary teachers’ perceptions regarding the implementation of RTI and the influence of the model on appropriate student referrals for special education services. The conceptual framework for this qualitative project study …
