Not all lawyers litigate, but you would not know that from the first-year curriculum at most law schools. Despite 50% of lawyers working in transactional practices, schools do not incorporate its legal doctrines or skills in the foundational first year. That the Progressives pushed through antitrust laws and the New Dealers founded the modern administrative state reframed how people use the law, particularly in transactional practices, and should be given equal weight as the appellate-based common law in any legal introduction. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand the lived experiences and perceptions of kindergarten teachers who taught through an era of federally mandated, standards-based educational reforms. This study was guided by two theories as each contributes to an explanation as to how educational reform has strayed far from the central purpose for kindergartens. Piaget’s theory of cognitive development sought to explain how a child constructs a mental model of the world and postulated that there are four distinct stages of human development from birth to adulthood. What is the potential for educational interventions strengthen our capacities for such challenging conversations and for allyship? The purpose of this qualitative action research study was to examine a published language arts curriculum, determine how Anna Craft’s possibility thinking framework could be integrated into the curriculum, and then observe how students responded to the implementation of lessons integrating the elements of possibility thinking. The findings revealed that a teacher can use the possibility thinking elements to encourage creativity while still teaching the objectives of a published curriculum. Creativity development can be encouraged by using a variety of supports that build possibility thinking. This research documents the experience of 12 local leaders implementing an oral curriculum over 13 months in Karnataka, India. These leaders were Change Agents interested in influencing a community with new information. They created audio materials referred to as “content” in their group’s mother tongue: In a Kannada-Telegu mix for the Madiga group (a Scheduled Caste); in Vaagri Booli for the Hakkipikki group (a Scheduled Tribe); and in Kannada for the Kannadiga group. In this special issue, we present different perspectives from a documentary project on curricular epistemicide. We view curriculum epistemicide —the annihilation of curriculum—as an embodied process. It limits ways of knowing, questioning, and envisioning the world, and it constricts multiplicity and erases identity and culture. Authors within this volume responded to two requests: 1) they examined some form of epistemicide; and 2) they did not reinforce current systems of power and inequity. Throughout the issue, poetry and photography weave through theoretical papers and empirical studies. A range of methodologies are considered within the articles.

This paper explores how experiencing the film Voices of Baltimore: Life Under Segregation (Homana, et al., 2017) becomes an avenue for practicing anti-racist critical self- exploration. The author considers how an experience of “lens-switching” in tandem with the process of currere (Pinar, 1978) creates nodes, or intersections, between the two where the narrative framework of the film viewer is interrupted by a different (and disruptive) narrative framework. Lens-switching becomes self-interrogation, through the four phases of currere, providing opportunity for historical dislocation; a process that alters self-perception -- or, “decolonizing the mind” (Baszile, 2015, p. 124) -- and then integrates an …

This study used a mixed methods approach to help determine how individuals worldwide recall their history curriculum. The inclusion, if any, of queer historical figures was discussed. The study’s aim was to discover any connection between the inclusion of queer historical figures and a potential increase to all students' well-being and academic growth. The study employed an initial survey as well as follow-up interviews to determine the participants' education, experiences, and views of themselves at the time.
