This research study explores the relationship between a CEO’s public statements and a firm’s abnormal stock returns by focusing on the case study of Elon Musk’s tweets and Tesla’s stock price over the course of 2021. A longitudinal dataset is constructed by analyzing how the information contained in tweets affected Tesla’s short-run stock price. The textual data is analyzed based on CEO tweets, the daily frequency of tweets, explicit and implied fundamentals, and sentiment. The content of Elon Musk’s publications may lead TSLA to have abnormal returns. The tweets are able to capture influences from fundamentals and psychology. When Elon …

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe educational changes at 4-year higher education institutions that are possible and probable by 2035 as perceived by a panel of experts. Additionally, the purpose was to determine the level of desirability of educational changes identified as probable by a panel of experts. Transition To The New Revenue Standard: A Study Of Firms’ Decisions To Adopt Asc 606 Early, Irene Y. Zhang

The Financial Accounting Standards Board has issued a new revenue standard through a series of updates since May 2014 (collectively, ASC 606). The standard allowed firms to adopt it a year early before the required effective date. This study provides evidence of the adoption effects of ASC 606 on firms’ financials and examines the relationship between the likelihood of early adopting ASC 606 and firm-specific characteristics. The results show that early adopters are distributed across 12 industries and 40% of them are concentrated in the computer programming and software industry. How Are The Decisions And Performance Of Businesses Within The Utilities Industry Shaped By The Issuance Of Debt?, Jasmine Alexander

This study explores how companies within the utilities industry choose to finance their companies through debt vs. equity. Results from regression analysis show that debt has a significantly greater negative impact on business performance, when compared to the use of equity. This leads to a conclusion that companies tend to utilize equity financing when faced with a positive outlook for their business performance. Conversely, companies utilize debt more when faced with a negative outlook regarding business performance.

This dissertation research determined the ability of three-dimensional (3D) simulation technology (CLO3DTM and OptiTexTM software) to develop digital prototypes of structured apparel designs using different creative pattern-cutting techniques. The project’s focus was to compare the similarities between physical and virtual prototypes and evaluate differences in performance between the two software programs using fit and appearance criteria. Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to identify and describe the formal and informal leadership development experiences of mid-level leaders promoted within Washington State Community Colleges.

Methodology: This phenomenological study identified and described the formal and informal leadership development experiences of 17 mid-level leaders promoted within Washington State Community Colleges. Respondents were purposively chosen based on specific criteria and recommendations of two expert sponsors. This study examines the estimated increase in economic impact on a geography’s local economy by creating cross-marketing efforts between expanding an established outdoor recreation trail to a closely located city downtown commerce district. This research will analyze the resulting potential rise in sales/lodging tax revenues for that city by mapping the trail and downtown district, and cross-marketing the other to users of both or either venue. Potential increase in economic impact will be estimated utilizing IMPLAN methodology by assessing the economic impact on the local economy that a percentage range of increased spending resulting from this cross-marketing effort could generate.

This dissertation aims to investigate the relationship between CEO humility and firm resilience, and further tackle the underlying mechanism behind the relationship. Based on upper echelons theory, this dissertation proposes that CEO humility promotes firm resilience, and the positive influence is mediated by stakeholder relationship capability. In this paper, the effect of specific capital discipline policies, capital structure and capital expenditures, is measured. Financial data from 2014 to 2022 are used to measure the impact of capital discipline policies on market cap. Capital structure measured through the debt-to-equity ratio and capital expenditures were both regressed against market cap to determine correlation. The regressions were sorted according to correlation strength and then grouped based off certain firm characteristics: Market cap, Resource produced, Geographical diversity, and level of integration.
