Wewelsburg war eine der rätselhafteste Gebäude von der Nazi Partei und war ein zentralische Schloss für Heinrich Himmlers arische Manie. Viele geheimnisvolle Treffungen wird hier geleitet und die Offizierskorps von der SS die am höhsten im Stand arbeitet genau so mit Himmler, um arische Artefakten zu schaffen. Der Chiemseekessel wird wohl eine von diesen Artefakten. Interessant ist der Geschichte von der Chiemseekessel. Zuerst dachten die Taucher, die hat den Chiemseekessel gefunden, daß sie eine antikes keltisches Artefakt hatte. Offensichtlich war die Beziehung zwischen Vater und Sohn immer in Kafkas Kopf. Viele Kafkas Werke handeln sich von deiser Beziehung. Der berühmteste Text Kafkas (auf Deutsch) ist Das Urteil, und natürlich gibt es da eine komplizierte Beziehung zwischen Vater und Sohn. 1960er sind die Ära von neues Detektivliteratur von Sjöwall und Wahlöö. Detektivfiktion ist nicht nur ein klug und ein interessant Genre sondern auch eine Stimme von Politik und Glauben. Die schwedischen Autoren von der Martin Beck Serie schreiben um die Gesellschaftskritik in die 10 Romanen, die sie hat zwischen 1965-1975 geschrieben. Für Verstandnis um den politischen Glaube in der Serie, man die Kontext von der Autoren in der Kalten Krieg wissen muss. Sjöwall und Wahlöö hat ihren Glauben von Marxismus und Gesellschaftskritik in jede Martin Beck Buch.

In an essay published in 2004[1] Thomas Brobjer surveyed Nietzsche’s attitudes toward Plato and argued that, far from entering into a dedicated agon with that philosopher, he had little personal engagement with Plato’s views at all. Certainly, he did not grapple so immediately and fruitfully with him as he did with Emerson, Schopenhauer, Lange, and even Socrates. Instead, he merely “set up a caricature of Plato as a representative of the metaphysical tradition … to which he opposed his own.”[2] This hardly reflects the view of Nietzsche scholarship in general, but Brobjer argued his case vigorously by ranging broadly over …

"Rhineland Bastard" was a derogatory term commonly used when referring to Afro-German children. Initially the term denoted only those whose father had been an Allied soldier of African descent, more specifically children of soldiers in the French colonial troops who occupied the important industrial Rhineland. The term gained popularity during the years of the Weimar Republic 1919-1933 and eventually began being used exclusively to refer to all AfroGerman children regardless of their father's occupation or heritage. The Rhineland Bastards were victims of persecution, sterilization, and brutality.

In Reconsidering the Emergence of the Gay Novel in English and German, James P. Wilper examines a key moment in the development of the modern gay novel by analyzing four novels by German, British, and American writers. Wilper studies how the texts are influenced by and respond and react to four schools of thought regarding male homosexuality in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The first is legal codes criminalizing sex acts between men and the religious doctrine that informs them. This ethnography, conducted at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, conveys the experiences of tutors, students, and administrators in a multilingual writing lab. As the number of both multilingual and international students in American universities increases, more writing centers in the United States have begun to explore the idea of multilingual tutoring. This study offers implications for establishing American multilingual writing centers based on data that emerged from observations and interviews conducted at Stellenbosch. Several themes emerged from the data that have important implications for American centers. First, there must be a clear understanding of what defines a multilingual writing center. …

Previous research has examined the provider-patient relationship and the effect of different first languages and culture on such relationship (1,2,3). Most studies conducted in the United States have focused primarily on the interactions between English-speaking health care providers and Spanish-speaking patients. Such studies found a relationship between quality of communication and quality of care received by patients, (2,3). When the patient is minimally proficient in English the divide increases and patients receive less information. Similarly, the provider’s proficiency in the patient’s language correlates with the quality of communication and care. The purpose of this study was to investigate a broader …

While the advent of digital archives have revolutionized the discipline of Women’s Studies, the current online offerings of visual and textual works by German-speaking women artists, especially Austrian artists, lag far behind the digital collections of their English-, French-, and Spanish-language contemporaries. Brigham Young University’s Sophie Digital Library project is the largest and most-used online archive of works by German-speaking women, but its collections focus only on literature, music and science. This thesis will study creole identity in Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea (1966), prequel of Jane Eyre, as well as in Maryse Condé's La Migration des Coeurs (1995), a rewriting of Wuthering Heights. I argue that both novels create a new creole identity by conversing with their original texts as well as by going beyond the official definition of creoleness. Using the concepts of obsessive memory and forced forgetfulness, I explore the tension betwee innate and constructed identity. First, I focus on the meaning of creoleness, then, I examine how memory plays a crucial role in the novels through topics …
