Researching Current Data Trends And Amenities To Improve The Community And Wellbeing In Higher Education, Michaela Gensler, Shayla Gardner, Brooke Ward

Undergraduate Research Conference

The interior design students goal was to design a new residence hall and dining facility for the SFASU campus. The design intention was to create functional spaces that allow student collaboration and motivate social interactions, while providing features that enhance student academic success and personal development.

Quantitative and qualitative data was collected by conducting surveys regarding the current housing and dining facilities on campus. Results from the current student’s surveys and from interviews of student/staff members on campus allowed the team to create the most functional plan. To Shake, To Shatter, Sydney Whitten Apr 2021

To Shake, To Shatter, Sydney Whitten

Honors Scholars Collaborative Projects

To Shake, To Shatter is a photography project about memory, family and relationship with one’s self. All images are taken on large format film, in Nashville Tennessee and Whitten’s home town of Carlock, Illinois.

For this series, Whitten explored her family archives to gather film stills from her childhood. She found theses still to interact hauntingly and romantically with the light and the shadows of the …

Art and Art History Theses

The work of Anglo-Scottish artists Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh (1864-1933) and Frances Macdonald MacNair (1873-1921) went largely uninvestigated until the end of the twentieth century, despite their innovative contributions to the Glasgow School aesthetic. The height of their careers saw high-profile architectural collaborations with Margaret’s husband, the celebrated Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and participation in significant European avant-garde exhibitions of their time. Joint and individual work produced during the Macdonald sisters’ Glasgow School of Art period (1890-1894), and the years immediately after when the two shared a studio in the city, have been recognized by historians of the artists as provocative images …
