Application Of Principal Component Proximity Transform And Geostatistics Methods For Volume Shale Distribution As Reservoir Characreristic Imaging In Seismic 3d, Nur Islami

Makara Journal of Technology

Application of Principal Component Proximity Transform and Geostatistics Methods for Volume Shale Distribution as Reservoir Characreristic Imaging in Seismic 3D. Principal component proximity transform (PCPT) technique was used to predict the content of volume shale into seismic data in reservoir modeling framework. The goal in this research is to get the volume shale imaging in three dimensions and allow for reservoir modelling. The reservoir modelling requires an integrated quantitative and qualitative data sources collected separately, such as well and seismic data. Integrating PCPT and Geostatistic methods can generate the detail information for characterization of reservoir’s properties. Finally, it shows that …

Application Of Empirical Orthogonal Function Models To Analyze Shoreline Change At Bangkalan Madura, Darius Arkwright, Suntoyo Suntoyo

Makara Journal of Technology

Bangkalan’s shoreline, especially on the opposite side of Surabaya, has been evaluated to determine the morphological changes due to wave attack, near-shore current, long-shore sediment transport and coastal configuration. This research aims to determine the dominant patterns of variation of Bangkalan’s shoreline change, expressed by Eigen-function in empirical orthogonal function (EOF) models. That was started with data collection such as oceanographic data (wave and tidal), bathymetry and topographic map and sediment data. All data was used for forecasting two-monthly shoreline. Coordinate of two-monthly shoreline was used as input of EOF model. The first Eigen mode is a profile of shoreline …

Establishment Code Hand Palm (Palm Code) 2D Gabor-Based Method. Palmprint is relatively new in physiological biometrics. Palmprint ROI segmentation and feature extraction are two important issues in palm print recognition. This paper introduces two steps in the center of mass moment method for ROI segmentation that will be applied in the Gabor 2D filter to obtain palm code as palmprint feature vector. Normalized Hamming distance was used to measure the similarity degrees of two feature vectors of palmprint. The system was tested using database 1000 palmprint images generated from 5 samples from each of the 200 persons randomly selected with …

Makara Journal of Technology

Batik is one of popular arts of Indonesia. The batik industries in Sragen, Central Java, are prepared to compete in global market. In order to realize that objective, batik products should fulfill some qualifications, one of which is “environmental friendliness”. As batik production is usually generating wastewater which pollutes the environment, the technology of wastewater treatment should be developed to solve the problem. This preliminary study has been done to assess the effectiveness of anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) and rotating biological contactor (RBC) in batik wastewater treatment. In 40 days of treatment period, the ABR performance in reducing pollutants showed …

Makara Journal of Technology

Combustion of coal and co-combustion of their co-fuel contribute to gas emissions. Among the gas emissions are SOx, NOx, CO and CO2. Introduction of calcium based adsorbent is addressed to absorb SO2 that release to the atmosphere during the combustion process. Objective of the research is at first to observe the physical characteristics of biobriquettes as a function of briquette compositions (coal to palm kernel shell ratios) and Ca/S ratios (Ca in adsorbent and S in briquette) using a natural adsorbent (shellfish waste). The second objective is to investigate desulfurization characteristics as a function of Ca/S ratios and desulfurization temperatures …

Cassava Pulp As A Biofuel Feedstock Of An Enzymatic Hydrolysis Proces, Djuma’Ali Djuma’Ali, Nonot Soewarno, Sumarno Sumarno, Dyah Primarini, Wahono Sumaryono

Makara Journal of Technology

Cassava pulp, a low cost solid byproduct of cassava starch industry, has been proposed as a high potential ethanolic fermentation substrate due to its high residual starch level, low ash content and small particle size of the lignocellulosic fibers. As the economic feasibility depends on complete degradation of the polysaccharides to fermentable glucose, the comparative hydrolytic potential of cassava pulp by six commercial enzymes were studied. Raw cassava pulp (12% w/v, particle sizeμm) hydrolyzed by both commercial pectinolytic (1) and amylolytic (2) enzymes cocktail, yielded 70.06% DE. Hydrothermal treatment of cassava pulp enhanced its susceptibility to enzymatic cleavageas compared to …

Processing And Dielectric Properties Of Tio2 Thick Films For High-Energy Density Capacitor Applications, Sheng Chao, Fatih Dogan

Materials Science and Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Nanosized titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders (∼40 nm) were used for preparation of tape-casting slurries. Effect of various solvents and dispersants on the dispersibility of TiO2 slurries was studied by sedimentation tests and rheology measurements. TiO2 green tapes were prepared by tape-casting method and densified at 1000°C with a sintered density >95%. Dielectric properties of TiO2 tapes were studied by measuring of dielectric constant, loss factor and dielectric breakdown strength (BDS) with respect to their microstructural development. BDS values as high as ∼1400 kV/cm were obtained for sintered tapes so that energy densities up to 14 …

Chemical and structural heterogeneity and the resulting interaction of coexisting phases can lead to extraordinary behaviours in oxides, as observed in piezoelectric materials at morphotropic phase boundaries and relaxor ferroelectrics. However, such phenomena are rare in metallic alloys. Here we show that, by tuning the presence of structural heterogeneity in textured Co1−xFex thin films, effective magnetostriction λeff as large as 260 p.p.m. can be achieved at low-saturation field of ~10 mT. Assuming λ100 is the dominant component, this number translates to an upper limit of magnetostriction ofλ100≈5λeff >1,000 p.p.m. Microstructural analyses …

Effect On The Processing Characteristics Of Zno Varistors Produced Using Vibratory Milling, Maura Kelleher, M.S.J. Hashmi

Conference Papers

Abstract. Each manufacturing stage in the production of zinc oxide varistors from powder preparation to the final encapsulated device is important not only for the formation of the varistor component with optimum microstructure and thus electrical characteristics but also for avoiding the introduction of flaws and reduced yield. In this paper the authors describe and discuss the effect of multi-elemental oxide additives having been milled for different durations using a vibratory mill with cylindrical zirconia media on the powder characteristics of the subsequent processing stages. A commercial ZnO varistor formulation was used. The subsequent processing stages that are given particular …

Fabrication Of Size-Tunable Metallic Nanoparticles Using Plasmid Dna As A Biomolecular Reactor, Jacopo Samson, Irene Piscopo, Alex Yampolski, Patrick Nahirney, Andrea Parpas, Amit Aggarwal, Raihan Saleh, Charles Michael Drain

Publications and Research

Plasmid DNA can be used as a template to yield gold, palladium, silver, and chromium nanoparticles of different sizes based on variations in incubation time at 70 °C with gold phosphine complexes, with the acetates of silver or palladium, or chromium acetylacetonate. The employment of mild synthetic conditions, minimal procedural steps, and aqueous solvents makes this method environmentally greener and ensures general feasibility. The use of plasmids exploits the capabilities of the biotechnology industry as a source of nanoreactor materials.
